Some Americans are rather confusing and confused themselves. If I call someone American and they are not from the United States of America specifically, they will promptly say it ~I am not American. I am Canadian~ or some of them will say that they are Mexican or whatever other country. Note for every inhabitant on those two continents, they are called South and North America. It is exactly like calling someone from France European and they will object, saying ~I am not European, I am French~
~
I am utterly confused, why would anyone say this? Please blame my lack of sleep and nutrition for my witlessness.
Because Canadians are not Americans, they're Canadians. Mexicans are Mexicans. People from California? They're not Californians, they're Americans.
There's no Europeans. I'm not an European. I find it difficult enough to call myself a Scandinavian. It makes no sense, since Finland doesn't even touch said mountains. A Frenchman is a Frenchman.
Being an "European" doesn't work like being an American. America is a nation formed by multiple states, Europe is a trade alliance between many nations.
yeah, america is more like for united states while in Europe u may find a lot of ppl with many different langs and cultures.
here in dominican rep, we call americans to ppl from usa.
Hmm. I've become more sad and depressed recently, but the people around me seem to be happier, more polite, and more decent. I wonder if it's just change or mere contrast.
No they aren't confused.
North and South America are continents, not countries. You can't call everyone from North America "Americans", because it's always referred to as people from the United States.
English people are called English, although European also works, that would be because there's no country named United Republic of Europe or w.e. And it's still a more broad term.
Call Canadians Canadians. Mexicans are Mexicans, and US citizens are Americans.
Gabrantus, I have noticed that as well. Everyone around me, even complete strangers, seems to become so polite, so nice and friendly, to me and to each other. Even the grimmer persons I know have somewhat softened up. It might be the weather?
I softened up?!?!
Hm...maybe it was the weather. It's been rainy/breezy + cloudy today. c:
So my constitution teacher joked on me that she'll give me A as final mark with no studying if I play her Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye&Kimbra. I took the challenge. Believe it or not, though I've heard of that song many times I've never actually listened to it until yesterday. I thought it's something stupid. Now I can't get it outta my head... fml.
Wth? Does she like you or something? :|
Idk xD Does it matter? She's young and often jokes with us. That's the issue with lot of young teachers, they were in high school no so long ago and are much closer to the student's generation. Which includes similar way of thinking and more open communication.
Our chemics/physics teacher is a stand-up comedian. There's still some comedy show stuff he's worked with in youtube.
I hate wearing jeans. Skirts and dresses only, and now that sunny and warm days are finally nigh, hello world! During wintertime, I avoid leaving my home as much as possible. Basically, I only get out to attend my classes.
I hate jeans...I hate pants in general....There is a much bigger chance of me going outside with a skirt on than pants.
I don't even own any pants :|
