+1 for the heirlooms obtainable in-game, its just stupid to have them removed due to extremely small minority that would like to have it so. Big thanks to dem, I cannot understand why is it so big thing to object if some people want to level more chars than just one with little bit more haste than first character was leveled?
then again on this topic i would bet 10k gold on that the player base in majority would want heirlooms 85-90% would be my guess, but its not really for any of us to decide anyways.
i can see no harm being made by giving alt levelers the option to farm up for some heirloom.
the thing really is that heirloom is optional, and it would be kinda wierd to argue against it, the argument would look kinda like this "i dont like that other people are using heirlooms because I think its more fun to not use them"
and i dont think that should even be considered.
I dont like being ganked (or gank for that matter), that dosnt mean that i want to diable PVP for everyone
Edit... i would be able to formulate my opinion way better if English was my first language
TLDR: its egoistic to want to remove an option for other people just because you dont like picking that option
^ this is of course pointed towards the community and not the devs, because the devs should mostly make choices that make the server what they want the server too be
As I mentioned before it doesn't matter how many players feel a certain way about something if the staff/developers/people that run the server don't agree with it. This isn't a "democracy", majority doesn't rule here on the player side. Comparing PvP to heirlooms makes little sense seeing that heirlooms seem to have been removed (at least in part) to prevent players from circumventing leveling effort. This has little to do with players grouping which is being encouraged now more than ever (in-game messages).
the devs should mostly make choices that make the server what they want the server too be
That is exactly what the developers have done (in part by disabling heirlooms). There aren't any level up options so it makes sense not to have in-game items that speed up leveling.
One post was like two months ago. One was about a week. It's only confusing if you ignore time going forward.
What's confusing is that noone explained or communicated on why heirlooms - which were initially supposed to be implemented - will 'most likely' never be obtainable all of a sudden. What's also confusing is that Lordaeron's realm info haven't been updated, which should be the case if a decision has been made regarding the removal of heirlooms. What's also confusing is that pvp heirlooms are already available in-game, so why not assume that pve heirlooms will also be available at some point ? If you don't want to say anything about it, it's perfectly fine, but don't be surprised if people get confused.
And you're right, acting like a smartass will definitely clear things up for everyone :)

Because, as with anything else, things and decisions are liable to change over time.
I do get surprised when people don't understand that fact of life by default.
If you want to know "why" as in the reason behind the change in the decision happened, for whatever reason, feel free to ask a Community Manager in a PM. It's safe to assume that it's because the Administration decided so to keep with the theme we want for Lordaeron, though, which is the basic reason for every change that happens.
Heirlooms make twinking horrible and BiS totally changes to needing a main to farm badges/shards etc, and twinking is pretty much the only reason me and some friends play. Twinking was one of the best features in wow before WotLK, i think many would agree, and it was destroyed on retail with heirlooms...me and many others love the fact that they are disabled.
I dont see how heirlooms destroy twinking.
I used to have a 29 spriest twink on retail and with heirlooms he became even stronger.
Also fighting against "non twinks" in battlegrounds became more challenging because many of them had a complete heirloom gear.
After all it depends on if u have a level 80 char to farm the emblems for ur twink. If u dont have one then u need to level one...
Saying that the general twink community doesnt like heirlooms is a false statement...
That part of the game hasnt been added yet. It's kinda the same thing as my what patch are we in thread.
Wintergrasp isnt released yet so no heirlooms ect.
well its kinda the other way around, iirc pve heirlooms where added with the release of wrath, and pvp heirlooms where added with wintergrasp.
Edit:
Patch 3.0.2 (14-Oct-2008): Roughly 40 heirloom items added.
Patch 3.0.3 (2008-11-04): Added. <- this is wintergrasp
which means that heirlooms where added before wintergrasp
and at this moment pvp heirlooms are available and pve heirlooms are not
regardless of this tho, Devs said that its not likely that pve heirlooms will be added at all.
so i don't think that is the reason, i would guess it is because heirlooms might remove some of the hardcore spirit, but then its weird that pvp heirlooms are available
Twinks are always OP compared to non-twinks.
Heirlooms are important to make some classes competiv in certain brackets.
Heirlooms are a nice addition to the Game. I cant read those "its hardcore" any longer.
Nothing to do with hardcore to disable features that make the game more fun.
Reduce gold or xp or reputation as a penalty for dying. That would make the Game tougher.
Increase mobdamage overall or some stuff that really turns wow into a challenge. Dunno. But dont remove cool features. It doesnt make the game experince hardcore.
Do you realize that definition of "cool features" can differ to another players?
Like me for example, i would that "reducing gold or xp or reputation as a penalty for dying" is trash, and personally i dont care about heirloons even lvling an alt right now.
But thats just me and opnions may differ from person to person.
