1. so did you guys like ignore they said there is only like 100 people doing it at a time orr? like i def go afk but its cuz i log in before doing somthing in case of a 4 hour queue and i get in im not gonna log out so i can get in a 4 hour queue after i did what i needed to do. kicking afk people isnt gonna do much if the queue is the reason for it. but i dont run the server either so what do i know

On Tuesday AFK kicking was active and there wasn't move than 100 people in queue at a time. Day before that, when it was off, queue was over 1000 people big. Hope that tells you something.

  3. And I thought the 80% of the server were in the selection server screen trying to relog when server crashed. So no, we are very few who do that.
    ?

I sometimes can't login immediately after a restart. It just wont work, even if the server is back online and i see population growing on the website.
Well until the login server get to the "maxed out" point with incoming requests to connect players can seemingly connect at will.

The term "immediately" is in reference to the realm, more like minutes rather than seconds since within minutes the realm's population can jump quite a bit.

Kicking people if they are afk for a while will be a good idea - just do not make the time to short.

30 min is two short time in my opinion - just think about it... some people got stuff to do that can take a little bit longer time than that. Make food, buy stuff, walk the dog, etc...
I'm pretty sure the majority of the players waiting in queue are ready to play, why should those players have to wait around just because other players want to go AFK for 30+ minutes at a time?

An hour IMO is far too long to be disconnected (30/30), especially with such high population and also because it is often abused by players with far less desire to play but are focused more on not having to wait in queue when/if they do decide to play and at the cost of others having to wait.

I'd even be pleased with a random restart every few hours or so, at least after a restart the AFK'ers are pretty much removed.

  4. It should be 10 mins character screen it logs you out. 20 minutes afk in game it kicks you out to character screen.

  5. We're aware of the situation. We implemented a grace timer for players to be able to get back either in the queue or in the game so that should eliminate any players' issues with that.

As for the players who decide to 'AFK' in the character selection screen, as you noted, we'll be taking a look into the situation and if feasible we will reduce the time without having an effect on people who want to go for instance to the bathroom while switching their characters. Keep in mind, that amount of these players who go over 30 minutes in the screen are absolutely little, no more than a hundred even at peak times.

What we really hope for is and what we're working on is putting more optimizations in to raise the cap and eliminate the queue entirely. As you saw per our progress, we've been doing our best in pursuit of this. We will keep you updated about this, of course.
What kind of optimizations do you focus on, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm curious about the bottlenecks in your systems

  6. Yesterday i was playing and i died with deterrence up.
I got DCed and had to wait 2050 queue.

it was 17:35 2050 in queue

    18:11 1700

    19:12 1200

    20:35 640

    21:19 313

    21:55 i am in

4 hours and 20 minutes to go through 2050 people in queue.

2 weeks ago it took 90 minutes to get through 1700 people in queue

This means that there had to be 8000 players who were constantly playing for 4 hours 20 minutes and another 4000 players who played on average 2 hours.

Iam pretty sure thats not the case.

So why does it take 2-3x longer to connect?

    1. Are people skipping queue? I heard rumors about this.

    2. Are people never getting kicked out for being AFK?

    2. Are people never getting kicked out for being AFK?
QUE moves slow just because it counts on players who quit wow by pressing quit button or altf4
all afk mongols suck ingame forever without any chance being kicked

in 2019 Warman will make anti afk system and que will take 2 hours max

  8. so did you guys like ignore they said there is only like 100 people doing it at a time orr?
Server has 10k online +2k que.
Right after each disconnect it takes around HOUR to fill all spots and make 2k que again.
Wich means there are lot of people who wasting game spots just afking on login screeen/capitals

With logic "only 100 people afking" it should have filled instantly after restart.

Warmane administration was always smart and makes good decisions, and i clearly do not understant why there is still no anti afk system around.

  9. The que is totally insane here, it's become so bad that the server has pretty much become unplayable for me. (and alot of others with a day job)
The average que lenght for me, when I immediatly log in when I get back home from work, is around 2 hours. But since I have to work again the next day I can't play for an unlimited amount of time, so the few hours that I have free to play are mainly spent in a que.

I also think we're getting stuck in a circle, where everyone complains about the que (Duh) and therefore logs in earlier and doesn't log out anymore to prevent themselves from being stuck in the que. Which results into bigger ques. Because the last few days/weeks the ques have become longer and longer. This server really needs an AFK kick system. I mean, my girlfriend also plays on this server and she just logs in around 15.00 and stays in the character screen till like 19.30 just to make sure she can play 1-2 hours in the evening. It's completely crazy to log in that early, but it's currently the only way you're able to play in the evening without waiting 2+ hours. And I feel like more and more players are starting to use this tactic. (Which I can't really blame them for because the current way of things basically forces you to be that ******* just to secure your own game time.)

Also a really odd thing I've noticed, me and my girlfriend logged in maybe ~1 minute after eachother. The initial difference between us was 50. She was logged in first. But by the time she got into the game the difference between the two of us was around 90-100. While in theory, if a player between me and her leaves, I get closer to her. But if a player before her leaves, we both move forward. But what actually happend, people got inbetween us. How is this possible? Did they skip like 75% of the que and did they get in between me and her? Because how else can there be a gap between the two of us that's getting larger and larger the longer we're in the que? This is just a curiosity thing, is there some sort of way to skip people in que?

  10. My solution is an aggressive AFK disconnection, letting all active and willing players play. Server spots should be freed as soon as players attend other matters:
    1. Five minutes of no activity in game would tag the player as <Away>.
    2. Five minutes after being tagged as <Away>, the player would be transferred to character selection.
    3. Five minutes of no activity in character selection would result in disconnection.
    = 15 minutes of inactivity.

This would allow all active and online players to play the time that they need, thus keeping the limited capacity in full use.

To all dog walkers and other "but I must go AFK for a short while": Please consider that the queue would advance at a much faster pace, and please reflect on whether you find it justified to keep an inactive spot reserved for over 15 minutes.

  11. 1. Are people skipping queue? I heard rumors about this.

    2. Are people never getting kicked out for being AFK?
I also heard that people are skipping queue and there is also a community expression for that: "queue dodging"
How? I really don't know, but I can confirm that I logged in instantly few times (hoping to see 1600+ queue like ususal) - without waiting. Happy accident? I don't like accidents, especially after hours of leveling, to be banned because something out there caused my instant login.

Lately, this isn't happening and I am playing less because I have 9-5 job and college after that. It is not a nice thing when you want to play like hour or less and wait 3-4 hours (with all disconnects and re-entering the queue).

I am in a similar situation, which is why I suggested the solution above. Yesterday I had to wait 4 hours, and I barely had time to do anything because it was already bed time. Today I logged in early to reserve the spot, but most of the time I'm inactive so it goes to waste. Yet, I am forced to do that in order to play for the short amount of time that I need.

Now I am tempted to do the same, desperate situation needs desperate measure....

    Sadly yes on both questions.

Your solution is extremely aggressive, and people won't understand that this would basically remove the queue. They will all scream "I can't even go pee anymore" and make tons of drama.

More and more people are forced to do that, if they want to log in just to play for 2 hours, cause queue takes way more time than they have for game.
