1. Can we at least get ONE free 80 level character on WoTLK and some of our coins refounded ? Please don't force us to go on MoP, 90% of Cata players would reather go WoTLK than MoP. Please
I don't know about a level up, but please read my post here: http://forum.warmane.com/showthread....=1#post2605428

Can you at least help us and make a post in staff section about one level 80 character on WoTLK ? I really think if Cata gets closed we deserve it. Forcing us on MoP is kinda unfair to us since almost nobody likes it. It stinks

If they refunded at least 15 coins you could purchase an 80 on WOTLK.

I don't support closing Cata at all, but, if it happens, how bad an idea it ends up being for the players depends on the details of the coin refund.

And honestly, once the idea of closing Cata even gets openly proposed, it may become a self-fulfilling prophecy. I like Cata a lot, but does it make sense for me to spend my time and coins on the server now that I know some of the staff wants it gone? Nope. Might as well just stick to WOTLK, which has no existential threat looming over it, as far as I know.

If they decide to keep Cata, they need to make a firm commitment to it's permanent existence, even if they can't commit to do much scripting updates.

If you get coins just to level up on a server where everyone is full with almost all donated items (Moltdown coins) and you are without any items, without any gold without profession, you are done my friend. You cant raid cuz 5.5k gs ICC normal and almost noone do Naxx OS etc, 5.5k gs RDF, even for normals you need at least 2k GS. Noone will accept you in a guild cuz you have nothing, so no help from guild. I can go on, but i hope you got my point.

I don't mind donating, I donated 50 euros for new year to support the server, but I have learned my lesson didn't I ?

Yeah, I've seen some Cata pve'ers acting like they are excited by the idea of going to MoP. I'd advise them to wait until they see the details of what kind of toons they will have on MoP before they support the change.

One thing i forgot to tell you about your suggestion for 15 coins refound. Majority of people after moltdown got 80+coins gift. You spend it on your WoTLK or MoP realm and you are still using it and enjoying your items, but Cata players wont have it anymore and plus we waster one year more. Its kinda unfair to suggest something like that.

  7. What would you say if we suggested them to dump MoP? Thought so too, so on behalf of Cata community, which is unfortunately getting smaller and smaller everyday since we didn't get any update for months, please don't talk about dumping one xpac.
As a Mop player i would absolutely be in favor of them dumping Mop for Wotlk, heck even for Cata if that was proposed. But the fact is Cata servers have the least players in comparison to the rest.

I wasn't suggesting a 15 coin refund- I was just saying that if they gave that much you could get an instant 80. I don't think Cata should be taken away at all.

  9. The way I see it, if they force us to move to mop, I better have my name and all the coins to get the bis gear that its correct for mop. Why not close Mop, since it was the killer expansion that made everything bad.

  10. just put my avatar as yours if you don't want cata->mop upgrade. So they see it

  11. It's no one's fault. Cata was dying way before this. Like before Moltdown, when MOP was first released on Molten. Everyone was leaving and going to MOP (I specifically remember this because you could hardly get pugs to do raids). Eventually my whole guild decided to go to MOP, and we were doing that right before the Moltdown.

I have nothing against Cata. I actually really love Cata, it was my first xpac. I came back to Warmane and tried to play on Cata but it is SO dead. Cata also has the misfortune of falling in between WOTLK (awesome, epic xpac) and MOP (new, shiny xpac for the Molten/Warmane community). It's natural selection for it to die. I don't mean any of this cruelly. It is something I had to also accept, as painful as it was.

For all of you who complain about the money you donated for the Cata realms, that's just it. You donated it. No one forced you to do it (it's not required to play at all) and you did benefit from it. I'm really surprised that this is even an issue, especially if you lived through Moltdown. I had everything destroyed, like so many. Everything I put so much time and money into. I was so sad it was gone, but at the same time I wouldn't have ever changed it. I made so many friends and had so much fun raiding/pvping! I didn't loose my enjoyment of the game. Not at all. Even when everything was gone.

The reason people moved from Cata to MoP premoldown was novelty factor and the perception that it will receive more attention (fixes). Look at the MoP server now, there's only one server and it's also being neglected, not as bad as Cata but still neglected. The population is steadily declining. Forcing people to MoP won't make MoP better... Only thing that will help the population on Cata and MoP is to have devs start to fix the backlog of bugs listed in bugtracker. Really, if devs just write a devlog once a week on Cata, and put in a changelog for 1 fix every month, I think Cata popularity will be better than what it has been.

That's certainly true. And how much do you think that those of us who get burned are going to donate in the future?

Seems to me that it makes sound business sense not to make your donators regret ever having done so. But I'm not a private server manager, so what do I know?

  14. That's certainly true. And how much do you think that those of us who get burned are going to donate in the future?
I had this really long explanation typed out in response, but I'm just gonna keep it short and sweet. I don't want to argue, that's not my intent, but there are some facts that need to be recognized.

    - People will donate again. And again. And again. Why? Because they have already been "burned" before but continue to do it.
    - No one is a victim here, even the donators. You willingly donate for a virtual item on a virtual game. Nothing is tangible in this exchange except the money you willingly give. If you were on retail right now, Christ Metzen would be giving you the middle finger. DOUBLE BARREL STYLE.

I give all my best wishes to the Cata players. Totally supporting you and hoping your xpac does not get shut down, or slowly die because it doesn't get updated. I'm outie.

We were burned by Hermes. I have no complaints about Warmane under Kaer in the last year. He brought in good AT scripters, created Lordaeron, seems to have a good plan going forward (support current servers, don't create a WoD server). And now he's listened to the Cata players. So I'm still a Warmane fan- this Cata proposal did give me a good scare though.
