To be fair eveyrhing in life can end abruptly, you getting some hard disease.,dying in crash, your bank taking **** from you if you cant pay, losing best friends, cheating happening....list goes on.
There is no security in life ,just live it best you can and give your best.
Same with wow, just play it without thinking of it ending.in end we all gonna perish and return to energy in circulation.
i dont see the problem playing here and retail.warmane does not have vanilla servers anyway + there is no progression on warmane servers so our char wont go anywhere if you take a break to play something else for a while.
however i think vanilla servers will take huge hit.
To be fair, even retail can just end its WoW service without telling you or legally telling you.
They have to tell you that youre suspended/banned. Usually as soon as your acc is locked an automatic email is sent to you with the reason why and how to move forward. Now the reason can really be anything and they will still be in their legal right but a big company like blizz cant afford having masses of people whining on the forums they were banned unjustly.
The only time i remember anything like this getting big was when Athene got banned when went for world first lvl 80 and a GM told him something and another something else.
On a private server is the good will of the staff if they let you know when and why you were banned. Thing is (like it happened many times in the pserver scene) unpaid staff (basically almost everyone xcept the devs) can go on power trips or have personal beefs with people/guilds and some really nasty **** can happen and it did.

a bit melodramatic lol
Ofc anything can end from today to tomorrow. The bigger thing is the reason why. If my acc is ended cause i abused a glitch or a bug than ok. But what if i got banned by a faulty anti cheat system or a staff who doesnt like me? The later cant happen on retail.

athene was exploiting to level fast so he got like 2 weeks ban for it.blizzard actually did mass ban of people who was using honorbuddy bot.but before that they try to sue the owners of the bot.only after they failed they got mass ban hammer.however there was always been legit reason for banning people never anything personal.
on private servers on other hand there have been countless times when some GM power abuse.not to mention if someone stole your account and bot with it.something that happen to me and many others on warmane, you get banned for it.on retail if your account get stolen you can take it back super easy just provide ID.
To Swarmer;
I agree completely :)
Something like that will never happen on retail.
To Skoobydoo
Athene abused raid tagging :)
And i know what you mean by latter :)
Hence i love retail ,i returned my 9 year old main account to my Blizz acc ,just provided security question and ID.
And that is one of main reasons il return to vanilla, security and advanced things.
I donated nearly 3k usd to Warmane/Molten so far across all accounts so il gladly give Vanilla retail a try as multiboxer:P or solo player depending on support of boxing :P

Actually, they are not required to tell you that you're suspended or banned. The email is a courtesy regarding that. If you read the ToS/EULA/Etc. All games, if not most (regarding MMOs or Online services state something like) "At anytime **** can end their service without any notice." The actual words are generally more lengthy or fancy. But you'd have to look.
That means that they wont send you an email prior to the ban to tell you that you are gonna be banned for this and that. They ban you first then send the email. Its made like this so people dont have time to mess with characters prior to the ban (like sending stuff to alts) and phishing blizz emails are harder to believe if you still can log in to your acc.
But i mean they can ban you and literally say "we dont like you" and you still cant do **** since you dont even own your account and characters on retail

actually on retail if they are going to ban and you still online they msg you leting you know your account will get banned and give you some time to prepare and such.and yes they always sent you email.btw getting perma banned on retail is almost not possible.
they also only ban your WOW account not your actual battlenet account.
on private servers on other hand...perma ban is something very easy to get :D
btw i have good example is unfiar ban on private servers.when elysium release they had problems with queue times and people been afk.at some point i was playing and had to go out so i just left w/o loging out from WOW.when i got back was perma banned for been afk and lost all my old nost chars.apparently they had no way of disconnecting afk players and been afk was considered exploit to not get stuck in queue afterwards......something like this will never happen on retail.
I got banned on retail permanently since i was hacked like 4 times back then (2008/2009),was using win xp which had **** load of ****s etc. Also didnt know back then much about security.
Even when i got perma banned i was unbanned 48 hours laters, this is obviously telling you how proffesional they are since i didnt havhe anything to do with hijackking of my account.
The more i read about classic i think its gonna be major hit ,and they will include bc/wrath in future, mark my words (prolly 1-2 years). They will implement old vanilla with some better improvements.

Not rly you always get notification via email. I have retail acc from years and I never had any problem, I use unique pass and google email for it. I actually never been hacked in internet.
Even if they do also release servers for TBC and Wrath, I don't see Warmane going anywhere anytime soon for three reasons.
1. Warmane is hosted in Russia (I think), therefore making it very hard for Blizzard to attempt to shut them down.
2. Warmane offers high rate leveling as well as the option to purchase gear for players who don't have a lot of time on their hands.
3. Warmane is very likely going to keep all their realms as PVP realms whereas Blizzard is going to eliminate PVP realms altogether.
There are probably more reasons than what I've just listed, but these are all I know right now.
At point 3.
World PvP is a huge thing in classic wow and I don't think there will be only classic pve realms.
I assume only the new xpac will have just PvE realms.
