Obviously a lot of people do give a crap about the spam on global... they hate it, but they deal with it, but how about we think for a minute here, Why does everyone have to deal with something that shouldn't be there in the first place?
Why not ask yourself instead, how inconvenient it makes for everyone who tries to use global?
The staff restricted it on forums cause the they didn't want to deal with it.
Yet it's their figment.

The addon IgnoreMore is the simplest solution. I have more than 400 people who recruit for guilds or sell characters ignored.
