1. you do not have to put more effort in than people on blackrock, people on blackrock still spend time to farm the currency needed and rating required to buy the items.
if you want to give blackrock players a similar gearing experience as progress servers you could make them buy random items instead of getting the one they actually want, just like in real guilds.
or release some items after X weeks to emulate raid IDs and get some rng factor to it too.
This takes more effort than splitting the realms for arenas. At the end of the day im pretty sure most Onyxia players are against this joint venture, while Blackrock people are in favor of it. Lets be real, this would benefit mostly Blackrock TBC, allowing people to snipe and farm Onyxia people. By the time you get 70 on Onyxia and collect a basic blue set, someone on Blackrock is already gonna be in full starter gear most likely.

You cant compare farming PvE items on a progress realm to only playing BG/Arena on a PvP realm. It will have to favor one side heavily, and its somewhat expected to be the instant PvP one.

Ofc I have to put in more effort lol
I need to farm pre-bis gear, do attunements, farm reputation, level up professions, get consumables, and spend 3+ hours raiding to get 1 item if I'm lucky.
You can't say I don't have to put in more effort that's not true, I know that they know that, everyone knows that.

PVE gearing and PVP gearing are two different things.
You will spam BGs and arenas and I will do the hard work.
By the time I'm done with my pve stuff and I queue for BG/Arena you are already overgeared because you have nothing else to do since you are not playing on the progression server but on PVP one where you just stay in Shattrah queuing for bg/arenas.

You can't give Blackrock people a progression experience because the server is not made for it. It's made to stay in Shattrah, flexing emotes on each other and measuring your p**** size while Onyxia players are actually playing the game.

At least bring a real argument as to why this disgusting merge is good like we brought arguments why it is not.

  3. I dont get why u all complain that much, it wont even affect you. Those people will be isolated on blackrock server - u only see them in bg/arena - where they progressively gear up in the same arena season. Lots of ppl see no joy in multiple hours of grind/level just to be ready to enter pvp - thus the blackrock server is a great option for them.

Whats the reason to make the entry to arena as hard and grindy as possible... i think everyone taking pvp a bit serious will appreciate this blackrock tbc option big time.
It's nature of the realm Onyxia which everyone who is playing on it, agreed on. We didn't choose instant 70 server and it was never advertised as realm which will be part of the xrealm BG.

And ofcourse it will affect us, either you are stupid to see it or ignorant who pursues his own interests.

We don't take you Blackrock TBC, we just don't want it to be part of Onyxia battlegroup.

I think that we don't want to see them anywhere near Onyxia brother/sister.
They are in another realm for a reason.
If they want to play Onyxia PVP they can easily progress like all of us have to.
Blackrock TBC should be opened, yes, but not connected with Onyxia.

  5. Just the following issues arise and will negatively impact Onyxia players:

    - Blackrock players will have access to PvE items a lot easier (potentially already via honor)
    - Blackrock players will likely have more than 1 Arena Point flush per week

The only options i see reasonable for a combined arena pool (battlegrounds are less a topic) are given if:

    - Access to PvE gear is delayed by 1 season on Blackrock (equal to shop release on Onyxia) (hence, t4 pve items become available on blackrock once t5 on Onyxia has been cleared)
    - PvE Items limited to shop items
    - if Blackrock has multiple Arena Point flushes per week, Onyxia will need increased Arena Point Rates - this is anyway necessary if you apply ORIGINAL AP rates combined with shorter phases

  6. Somewhat ridiculous how any xp change is being disregarded as unfair towards the existing community - but when it comes to someone skipping hundreds of hours of playtime and being able to queue immediatelly arenas vs people which had to go through leveling, skilling weapons/defense, profs, attunements, BUYING enchants and gems, and raiding frequently - then its suddenly not an issue and its for everyones good.

While this might be overlooked right now, most of us active Onyxia players will have ZERO incentive to level up and gear our alts for PvP.

This is not good at all, not for Onyxia. The realm will have enough players on its own, and no one cares if the ladder has 1000 teams or 2000 teams. At the end of the day you want to have the same circumstances like your opponent.

Waiting for an official statement at this time, but will keep responding to pro-merge posters because i dont wanna let them influence the discussion with only one (selfish argument): More active PvP. LOL

  7. Literally this. The best thing written on this thread so far.

    Also very valid points.

I stoped preparing an alt due to this. No way I can keep up with an alt on Onyxia with Blackrock gearing system...

And this won't only affect PvP but also 5 mans and alt Kara runs etc.

  9. onyxia ladder will benefit from having blackrock linked to their arena ladder simply because it will boost activity by a lot, it will increase the skill level of arena games being played and is going to make sure people can easily jump into the pvp action without having to go through 100 hours of chores such as dungeon farming or having to rely on a guild loot council to get the one item that is going to provide a big power boost in arena.

for pvp players tbc blackrock realm is absolutely mandatory and it would be a mistake to cancel it, the game will play out perfectly fine as was seen in the past.
for the previous wotlk fresh servers there was always the option to create an instant character on blackrock as well with the ladders being linked just as it is going to be the case now.
You realize what you call 100 hours of chores is exactly the reason people are playing Onyxia? It is not chores for us. It is fun and progressive realm, which we signed for.

Also why the **** are people not playing on Onyxia commenting on what will be good for Onyxia...
Again, if you want to play Blackrock with free gear, go ahead. Just don't drag Onyxia realm into this, we don't want that. Simple as that.

  10. I did not sign up for Onyxia to have people get freebies in form of instant 70, max proffesions/reputation and varior other **** on a different "realm" Blackrock to edge out what normally takes hours upon hours to achieve.

  11. It's funny how everyone makes drama about cross-realm PvP but 80% of the Onyxia playerbase won't even be affected by it because they only do PvE.

  12. there will be plenty of people playing pvp and arenas because in season 1 and 2 weapons didnt require any rating. People will queue for games with alts etc. for easy access to weapons at least

  13. Please DO NOT make crossrealm pvp between Blackrock and Onyxia, the pvp side of Onyxia would be absolutely decimated by snipers and highly more geared people. I do not see any benefits for the Onyxia server which was advertised as "progression", this decision would go totally against the foundations the server was built on.

Please provide evidence for your claim. Otherwise disregarded as an YOUR OPINION.

  15. This is a FANTASTIC addition. Well done Warmane staff. Adding in a PVP server will absolutely vitalize the arena ladders and BG queues.

If you're against this, be realistic with yourself. How often are you going to be playing arena? If you're playing just to cap points and potentially get a weapon (most of you vocal minority), then this change does NOT matter for you. At all.

A trinket isn't going to make the difference between you being a 1700 hard capped player and a 2200+ player. I promise you. The amount of dual-glaive rogues that were hard stuck 1700 in classic TBC in s3 was laughable.

This change will bring hundreds of players into the server that wouldn't have previously played. The rank 1 gladiators will play on Blackrock, get their gear, and be 1k mmr above you and you'll never see them. The sample size of where you'll actually be affected, and it'll actually matter and make a difference in a single arena match, is basically 0.

Great idea, Warmane. Thanks for doing this.
