Lololol.

I confess that most time I wish I'd been born in the 50's. Then I wouldn't have missed out on so many great artists during the 60's and 70's. And I would've been able to see Freddie Mercury live.
Today's music is filth compared to the golden ages. (personal opinion, feel free to disagree).
Think about it like this. The music you love, Queen for example. Was considered filth by MANY people, critiques especially. Even though they seemed loved and they seem like legends now. They were still hated by many people.
People think Pop is filth, Rap is filth, and Hip Hop is filth. MANY people thought Rock was filth and many people still think it's filth, same goes for Jazz.
I'm not a die-hard rock fan :) He just seems to have been a truly inspiring and great singer. Who could indulge and communicate with the audience on "another plane". My parents saw them live @ wembley in '86 and they say it was the greatest show they've ever been to, and it isn't likely they'll ever experience it again.
Todays mainstream pop is almost always a feature of an old classic. Many rap lyrics who are not about gangsta's "*****es" and hoes usually have a re-written and molested part of a golden oldie in it. To me it just seems as if 80% of todays music is a money cow rather than the inspiring need to spread joy and communicate state of mind to people. I know you're right tho, it's all about perspective. Being a woman during the 60's prob. wasn't a "dance on roses".
Freddie will always be known as the, "Lover of Life, Singer of Songs" :).
And today's mainstream music is about money. Pop stars make a lot of money even though they have to hire song writers and producers. But that's what people love. People love Pop because it's predicable. It's easy to count and easy to predict and that's what MANY people enjoy.
Pink Floyd in my opinion will always be the band that had the pop aspect in their songs but also the deep aspect that made you think, that forced you to use your imagination. Their songs were easy to sing along to and easy to memorize but the lyrics also just forced you to think. Think about the scenario possibly happening in the song or somehow applying that scenario or story into your own life.
I think it's going to take one artist that is willing to become incredibly loved and famous and just stand up and say, "**** YOU" to all of the "artists" that don't produce their own music. And that's what matters. If people actually composed their own music.
Many people are not a fan of Tupac but when you listen to his songs. You'll hear him talk about death and more death. There is a meaning behind many of his songs. But Rap now consists of reusing the same lyrics but with a different beat.
They talk about wealth, sex and drugs but people have been rapping about that for years. It's as if I kept telling you the story of Red Riding Hood but I would change it up a little bit each time I tell you it.
But music is music I guess and many people enjoy today's Rap and Pop and that's good. It brings joy to their lives and comfort. Listening to a song you absolutely love is amazing. And it would be horrible if you took that away from someone and forced them to listen to something they really don't like.
But people should always keep an open mind about music. Give different types of music a chance but don't force yourself to enjoy it and don't let anyone force that type of music onto you.
Personally when I listen to Porcupine Tree, I analyze the **** out of their songs. I listen to the notes, to the chords, to the lyrics and I try to understand why the song is like it is. Why is it so complicated? What are the lyrics talking about? How is the drummer or guitarist affecting the song as a whole? Just random **** like that.
But when I listen to Trance for example, I don't care about any of that. It's upbeat music that makes you want to dance and have a good time. You don't have to analyze it and you shouldn't. Just listen to it.
I confess that when I'm around my LoL friends I just talk about how jungleing with some random champion that sounds like a rogue type thing helps support the mid lane....and they buy it.....
Jk they all know I don't play yet somehow my BS is always correct anyway.
/shrug
While everyone was drop dead because of the heat, I was thriving.
Immune to heat Master Race.
heatwaves are the most random thing on Outlands....
on news:"today is going to rain"
***heatwave***
on news: "the heatwave is coming"
***electrical storms***
"Damn it, Evans! Keep those stukas off us!"
Right up there with, "All you had to do was follow the damn train" as the most annoying line in vidya.
CoD is so unforgiving, no health packs and if you die you have to start the whole sequence over and over till you get it perfect. Have to defend a single point from bomber planes and trucks full of enemies in an exposed flak gun? **** you, here's 3 continuous spawning enemies in the blind spot to your left. Think your npc pal will take care of them? AHAHAHAHAHAHA
I jungle Zilean whenever I'm drunk.
Queen was meh. We have better and worse music now. It's not much different than pop today.
this is bait
