I.... jesus dude. I don't think you and I have the same definition of gear progression I guess? Players on both servers need to grind the same amount of BGs to get s0 pieces and off pieces.
You cannot buy s0 gear on blackrock for free. You start with dungeon blues. Which are useless in PvP. So you need s0 gear. It costs honor and marks. The same amount as on Onyxia. Are you under the impression that you can make a blackrock character and just buy the entire s0 PvP set for free? That's not how it works.
Players on both servers need to grind the same amount of arenas for s1 pieces.
There is the literal same progression of acquiring pieces of gear for any level of PvP gear for both Onyxia players and Blackrock players.
If you want to be actually good at PvP you wouldn't be stacking all resilience gear from the vendor. A warrior for example might go for Stunherald a crafted weapon or Choker of Vile Intent/Bloodlust Brooch for badge of justice. A lot of these other pieces take great skill and effort to obtain as well as probability. Some players can access it far more easily while new players would struggle. Blackrock on the other hand doesn't mimic that same effort currently with just having some of these items up for honor/arena points.
What I'm suggesting actually would put Blackrock on a more fair playing field giving them the chance at possibly getting raid items earlier, but it would have to require the same level of effort and skill to obtain.
You're right man. Stormherald and badge gear absolutely take a ton of skill to obtain. Touche!
You fail to understand Onyxia and Blackrock TBC cater to 2 different communities:
community ?1 likes leveling, professions, dungeons, raids, outdoor PvP, BGs and arenas;
community ?2 likes ONLY arenas.
As much as you want to see it as 1 game, it isn't since the introduction of arena into TBC. Unfortunately, Blizzard doesn't understand that, but Warmane does.
My speculation is that warglaives would be available for purchase through the Warmane store around the same time for both realms, again giving Onyxia's players a slight advantage since they'll have 2 options: farm BT every week or buy them for coins. There is no original warglaive quest chain, which is why there's no need for a custom one on Blackrock TBC. Blackrock's custom Shadowmourne quest chain was made as an equivalent to the original chain which can be completed on Icecrown or Lordaeron. It's arguably much harder since it has to be done in a PvP environment.
When it comes to other pieces of gear, I believe Warmane should do something similar to what Blackrock WotLK has at the moment. Namely, rating requirements for PvE gear.
Again, you are talking about splitting the player base when in fact it's the opposite. Icecrown, Lordaeron and Blackrock are the prime examples of uniting communities to do PvP activities.
I'm under the impression that a lot of you guys just have very little knowledge about Blackrock progression.
Let Warmane cook.

no, it wont
Gonna take a dip in pop and many ppl will stop pvping and raid log forever, not that good adding a different comunity to an already established one
Oh, you mean like what's been happening the past 3 months on Onyxia, even though the change wasn't announced until this last changelog?
People, including most against this decision in this thread, will be playing less than 150 arena games per season regardless. People on Onyxia have already shown to not care to make PvP a priority, even though there is currently incentive to do so in order to cap out before TBC release. People already want to play the game to PvE, and maybe dabble in PvP.
This server is aimed at bringing in PvP-only focused players that will keep the server alive past the initial hype of launch. We'll supplement your dying PvP scene, and we'll be able to play the game without needing to do the time-consuming tasks of leveling. PvP gear progression will be the same on both sides, and mods already confirmed they're continuing to work on the requirements for any PvE gear.
You're welcome for coming in and keeping your queues short. See you in the arena.
players on onxyia cant group with players from blackrock... for PVP?LMFAO! only q aginst them? group with players on other servers is a thing..they can even have horde and ally in groups.. but not group with blackrock players lol. solo q on blackrock?...
onxyia players cant group with blackrock players..how does that help onxyia players? and why would it not be allowed since warmane is making it cross server?
special rules loot progression free 70's all this talk about "more pvp" for onxyia and we cant even group to pvp with black rock players...
onxyia cant group with blackrock for pvp.. i think that pretty much sums it all up...
Blakeatron made his account july 31st, 2024.. weeks ago.. wonder why?
biggest thread for onxyia and its filled with trolls doing just that..
onxyia players cant group with blackrock for pvp...
we have to "play" against black rock players but cant play with them...
I hate the idea of xrealm bu since this seems to be set in stone the most pressing matter that's not gotten a satisfactory answer imo:
What if anything will Warmane do to incentivise players on Onyxia to make alts?
It will hurt the server if everyone interested in pvp make alts on Blackrock instead of Onyxia.
The cross realm is happening no matter how much you complain and it will be a good thing in the long run.
I'm not directing this to a specific user, rather to almost everyone in the last two pages:
Try to keep the discussion civilized without insults. You guys are almost crossing the tolerable line of the behavior rules on the forums. You don't need to insult to make your point across.
I agree and I apologize, as the Blackrock TBC realm is approaching, we should now provide feedback to design possible template character gear using websites like seventyupgrades (fully green items, green and rare items mixed etc) or discuss if 9-12 week gearing cycles are a reasonable time frame given the arena point distribution will stay Blizzlike.
Also some feedback regarding the arena team and mmr possibilities which could potentially be used for the realm.
In my opinion we would ideally roll with an mmr based system instead of the TBC one which is only based on team ratings to match players versus each other. This design could be abused heavily by fully geared players disbanding and remaking teams on a daily basis to face lower rated opponents frequently and would make up for a very frustrating new player experience.
Instead of expressing whatever we did in the last few replies.
what the hell 33 pages for this?
can someone summerize this topic in less than 3 sentences?:xD
