That doesn't take away the fact that World of Warcraft is slowly dying. In fact, MMO's in general are slowly dying since there's nothing really new in any of them. The players that are still around are the old school players or the rookies that never played a MMO but in general the population is dying. That's the point that Lucatiel is doing and it's even surprising that I'm actually agreeing with him, to be honest.
Example; I've been around World of Warcraft since the release of Burning Crusade. Do I still feel the shine around it? Not really. Do I play the game everyday? Nop. It's a casual game that I play from time to time and currently I only play on the official servers. That tells you much.
Plus I find it extremely unnecessary to have someone to "voice an award" for a private server. This ain't no god damn academy for Oscars. If anything, it's cringe worthy at least for me.

Big difference between slowly dying and dead. WoW may be dying but private servers are more populated than ever. It's actually the new guys that keep the population and not the veterans. I saw today that Vanilla wow client is one the most popular game torrents right now. MMOs might be dying but they're still extremely popular.
As for the award, meh, doesn't bother me. He's just trying to summ up his reviews during the year into one video. It's a useful video for people that never played on private servers. There are like a 100 private servers and you can't personally test them all, so it's good to have something like that around. And as you saw, he has a player's choice award, where the community chooses their favourite server. As long as there is more than one private server, comparing them will never stop and some guys will make yt videos about it and this will be the end result.
I never said that World of Warcraft was dead as a whole. It is however slowly dying and there are many actions that can comprove that fact. One of them was the cross-realm feature implemented by Blizzard. Realms were getting empty, people were jumping to other games because the realms were getting empty and in order to create an "illusion" that feature was born. Obviously, it also brings a positive change and more flexibility when it comes to play with friends from other realms but we can't overlook the true reason behind such feature.
Vanilla WoW client is a hype that will die soon. Most of the people attending to that hype are people that never played Vanilla and are people that will start making rants about how Vanilla is missing so many points of the game. I'm not expecting that hype to last that long and I can ensure you that in the space of one year this statement will become a reality.
As for the video goes; A useful video but also a video that can trap you into a lack of information. I feel like the video is missing crucial information regarding some topics. Personally speaking here, I was in another server before moving myself here and the server was not that well known; However, it was extremely advanced in terms of scripting and in terms of stability. Probably the best I've seen until this day. Issue? They didn't allow publicity, they didn't feed themselves out of popularity. They fed themselves only under the word of the community members bringing their friends in. Icecrown Citadel was fully working as intended back in 2010 and the only fight missing was Lich King that was released two months before the end of the project. So when it comes to "awards" I'll always be extremely sceptical specially considering that your vision of good can be bad for me. Therefore, it's just another opinion and nothing else.
People making videos providing their opinion about servers isn't a bad thing. I just don't understand the whole hype around a so called "award" that is merely an opinion of a guy. Hell, I'm sure that if I was the one making such thing it wouldn't be considered as valid just because I'm the "magaginho" from the forum. (However I really should consider to do such thing now that I think about it.)
