Such a funny read, really inticing me to *****slap all the girly men in BG. Im sorry for necro'ing, but I would really like to know what the stat priority is. bear in mind that I am a relative noob at PvP.
So my guess is something like this: hit (untill capped) > expertise (untill soft capped) > Block value > Armor penetration (untill capped) > Strength > Resilience > Crit > Stamina
Im wondering though, does strength only increase shield slam damage through block value, or does the AP also stack with it? Also, do you actually aim to get 100% armor penetration (1400 rating), or is there a lower point that suffices?
I am currently geared in pre-ICC prot war gear, so i'm assuming this is not yet very viable for me. What I would like to know is how much of each stat is roughly needed for prot PvP to become competitive.
Kind regards,
Dabooh from the Deathwing server
So after reading all this manliness it got me thinking. What about a 70 warrior with 4pc T6 and a f*ckton of SBV and ARP? This is what I came up with. http://wotlk.chardev.org/?profile=492236
You can use T4 chest and T5 gloves for more SBV but I wanted to go for a little more ARP and resilience. Would love some feedback from the master, Clovis.
"I'm not worthy"
This guide is awesome, I'm halfway there and i'm starting to one-shot (non-resil) clothiers. 10/10 for the excellent presentation too.
I want you to take a look at my current gear and i wanted to know just how much minmum resilence is needed in arena. Planing on getting some wrathful gear so need to know how much resilence needed.

Clovis is this how it should look because I am not sure about some points?

Or maybe someone else can tell me where exactly some points should go in prot tree?
hi there.. Clovis, i actually inspired by your guide to play as warrior prot although i haven't gave credit cause i use forum just for reference.
i had a question which one is better for mainhand slot a 277 WF 2.6 or Scourgebone Waraxe(more crit, and arp but 1.5)? as u say on gear segment that any slow weapon will do :) thanks before... have a good day
The Scourgebone Waraxe has got really low basical damage. I think the Wrathful Glad tier 2 is better.
I prefer the Wrathful weapon for more damage and that extra bit of resilience.
Use the talent build I linked in the guide:

The recommended amount of resilience (people usually say 1000-1200) is not something you're going to hit with my build. The point of my Shield Slam Warrior is to increase Block Value, part of which is done through PvE gear. Because of this, you'll always find yourself lower on resilience than you'd normally like (unless you do something wonky like gem and enchant as much resilience as you can).
However, that's not so bad because you already have a lot of survivability tools available to you. Stamina, avoidance stats, Last Stand, Enraged Regen, Shield Block vs. melees, Spell Reflect vs. casters, all of your crowd control, etc. If you use those effectively, you'll find that you can still tank quite a bit of damage while simultaneously dishing it out.
I used my "own" gear and talents.
2s - 75 resil and now I have 2k raiting ( with lot of partners changing - gearing up while playing arenas = bad score )

30% cit

Here is link of my armory:

I play PROT only in PvP ( world pvp, arena, bgs )
It is not optimal currently, due to this bug.
The bug has been fixed, it's gonna go live soon :) the dev confirmed they are testing it now so we should expect it to go live any time soon.
