Not it wouldnt. If they did that people would do workarounds for the gold squish with items such as mammoths and just resell it when the gold squish is done.

I seriously doubt this mammoth trick works because everyone would be doing it and the squish would be in vain. I never tried it tho.

Aslong as you are not online the timer on items does not tick down that you have bought from vendors.

In my personal experience the gold squish + bot banning make this realm by far the best wotlk experience, even better than bliz for obvious reasons.
If there was never any Gsquish, on a server that has been up for a while, old players would have so much gold, everything in the AH would have a few extra 00s in it's price cost. New players would be completely hopeless to buy any BoE for leveling, twinking or fresh 80 trying to gear up.
I already feel the impact of the higher rates when I switch between Lordaeron and Icecrown, since on Icecrown all prices are much higher because of the rates, but at the same time, anything you do will give you that much extra gold. But ok on Icecrown you could get items with coins or points.
Now for Lordaeron, where that's no longer the case, any new player would struggle really hard. Also at normal profession rates, you eventually can't farm every single thing from every single profession alone, many professions require items from one another at certain points or if you want to create certain recipes.
It makes total sense to have a gold squish, prices remain almost the same over the years, ofc prices will have their own variations and before squish everything goes up... but everything would go up regardless of squish, and it would go up forever, just like real life inflation, the more money there is, the less valuable money is.
Other than Dalaran's Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth at 16k, Guild tabs, Fast flying, Tome of Cold Weather Flight for alts, Sons of Hodir's Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth 10k, not many big gold sinks.
Right now before the squish some items like Marrowgar's Frigid Eye at 8k, Nightmare ender at 8k... I've seen 3k for those... specially if you're leveling and you're arriving soon after the squish in Northrend, you will benefit massively from the squish either way.
You can push to level quickly and arrive at 80 to buy fast flying asap and spend that 5k gold. Or you can level slowly with normal flying from 70 to 80 but arrive at 80 with gold for your icc boes? (since it's price will be like 40% of what it is now) That will make you run heroics easier, get into raiding easier, etc...

What mammoths are you talking about? Yesterday I bought a mammoth for 16k and it didn't have any timer for returning.
That timers i see only on items for some emblems like frost , not for gold.

Yep. Gold squish is absolutely necessary.
Without this it is simply impossible to start playing normally on realms older than a couple of years.
I understand people who play for a long time and like to save billions. It is clear that they do not want to lose them. But there will be no compression, there will be no normal influx of new players. And the realm will simply die. And no one will need your billions on a dead server.

thata is such a silly thing to say, They can just add on their store on the site better items , that you can get for enourmous amount of gold like icc normal for 100k , that would def keep the economy in check rather than mock the time and efort of the people, this is why i dont normaly play on private servers, all they do is to make people buy coin wich they can use to buy gold or whateverer, warmane response to blizzard wow token, playing classic is the best atm
