Some of of you will say that I'm a douchebag or whatever, but don't you think that a mage who's not able to reach 1800 rate [(on Molten) with 71/0/0 arcane build & 0/53/18 fire build] is making a guide how to play mages n talking about PvP. The fire mage "guide" you made is most likely not yours - you re-posted it as yours (and by that I'm not saying it's from Molten forums).

This is 100% my guide, and i was arcane cause i was comparing (yes i said to reach 1800 rating, but fire works better for me) it with fire, same with frost, now that i did so, ill stick with fire until i get mad for its handicap :D.

And the reason i dont reach 1800 rating is that i only do 10 matches a week, cause i have better things to do like BG's (which i prefer), doing raids with guild, or running guild events (yeah, i almost run a guild, which i have to since my guild master is my brother).

If you still need some proof, i can make a video of me PVP'ing in arenas and BG's, cause i can tell you, i have some awesome 1v10 ownage (well... i manage to kill one and escape :D).

And yeah... douche.

The reason why i made this guide is that fire mage is my favourite class and i kept on trying to play it correctly... failed alot and alot... until one day i tried it in arenas and bgs in warsong. Then i literaly pwed everyone, 2v1 arenas, 3v1 bgs. The 1st bg i tried in warsong with fire mage resulted into doing most damage, 12 kills and 1 death. Then i figured how a fire mage should be played like... btw when i made this guide, i was lvl 62 in lordaeron.

P.S. you can see the hot streak achievement which i gained yesterday at 1500+ rating. And i dont gem/keep the stats at the correct order because i feel like it.

Ok... i have the video, but it took me only one day, so dont expect some awesome uber ownage, plus it was my 1st attempt at sony vegas... so not good editing skills also lol.

I uploaded but the quality was so ****ty... so i need to render it again and re-upload.

P.S. through my eyes... the video is not great, i made quite a few mistakes there and there... but i gues i still know what i am doing there. All and all... its decent. And i had some problems in selecting a music... searched for 2 hours and didnt found anything :S... then i took a random pvp movie and stole the music from there :D.

Ok found a good rendering method, ends up in 250 mb and 1024x720 resolution. Soon... it will be uploaded.

I've been leveling up as a fire mage for quite some time now... and just saw this thread xP
I do quite well in bgs... usually in the top three horde players, but i have one question:
What's up with everyone against spamming scorch?
My haste is really low (I've solely focused on crit with my gear), and my crit chance is about 35% unbuffed [full wrathful offset- except for the staff and the wand- and full relentless set].. So my only viable attack is scorch...
my main rotation is: Living bomb -> scorch spam -> hot streak -> Pyroblast
Am I playing it the best I could? If not, what do you recommend me doing?

First replace that horrible staff which gives u haste with a fury mageblade and cosmos, use sp enchant, second use this combo Dragons flame > Frostfire/Fireball/Pyro if bugged > Insta flamestrike, it does real nice im a fire maeg too with firestarter, and remember DONT SPAM SCORCH, ONLY CAST IT OCCASIONALLY, second USE DRAGONS FLAMES AND BLAST WAVE the most important fire mage abillities, dont forget u got FFB and CONE OF COLD, also you should put up lb, thats pretty much it i hope i helped a bit

Thats pretty much what Djoxy said, dont spam it all the time, fire mage is all about control, use Dragons breath as much as possible.

And whats up with that... 35% as nearly full wrathful? I mean, im Furious/relentless/wrathful and have 39% crit strike rating unbuffed +6% from talents, so thats 45% crit chance :confused:.

Why Mage Blade and Cosmos?
Together the stats that matter are:
80 crit
0 Haste
671 spellpower
38 resilience
122 stamina
101 intellect

My current staff:
0 crit
92 haste
587 spellpower
92 resilience
186 stamina
82 intellect

The staff that gives crit (one I'm saving VPs for):
92 crit
0 haste
587 spellpower
92 resilience
186 stamina
82 intellect


Off the 3 combinations my favorite is the crit staff, followed by my staff, followed by the Cosmos/mage blade combo (which gives half the res and way less stamina (and less crit than the crit staff), in exchange for slightly more spell power and intellect).


And yes, I do use D.breath, blast wave and Flame strike a lot.. but only in close combat.. I don't go up to people to use it on them.. I wait for them to come to me... i.e. I use them as defense mechanisms not for attacking.

At a distance, I find my self continuously spamming scotch because the other spells simply take up too much time to cast.. the targeted enemy is either killed before I get to them, or reaches me before significant damage is done.. =/

Should I gear up with haste?

I think it's because you have that 120+ crit battlemaster trinket and the crit staff I talked about above.. I have enough honor for the trinket, but I don't want to replace either of my Flare of the heavens (which gives about the same crit anyways) or Medallion of the Horde (medallion helps ALOT).. How do you survive without it? xD

I think it's because you have that 120+ crit battlemaster trinket and the crit staff I talked about above.. I have enough honor for the trinket, but I don't want to replace either of my Flare of the heavens (which gives about the same crit anyways) or Medallion of the Horde (medallion helps ALOT).. How do you survive without it? xD
