So with crit/haste fixed on dot refresh aff locks should be doing even less dmg now, right?
I dont think trinket+potion can beat bloodlust+potion+eradication+black magic proc

affliction pve - get about 1550 haste approx (45%)

demo pve - get about 1400


affli - i use sts + dfo
demo - i use sts + PoTNL

Demo PvE only 1400?! WTF ... Demo has almost no DR (the DR starts at 2300 haste) about haste ... Why whould I want to stop at 1400 when my DR is at 2300 ... As Demo, you will never have enough HASTE!

DR for haste as lock:

Destro 850-900 haste
Demo 2250-2350 haste
Affl 1500-1600 haste

1400 haste wont make your Soul Fire 1 sec ... it will be around 1.2 ... so aiming for 160-1650 haste is the perfect situation ... also you have several other spells that benefits from Haste ... Corruption, Incinerate, Shadow Bolt ...

i already tried this guide a couple week ago, and the result not really much amusing, i get arround 6,5-7kdps on heroic dummy as afflict, i dont know where did i go wrong i already do what the guide told me to, like reaplly corruption when eradication proc or when get huge amount of haste from potion or heroism,never clip UA
my gear is mixed 251 and 264ilevel with 2 donor trinket ( DFO and CTS )
my haste is 1397, 3200 sp and arround 27% crit

atm i respect my talent to destruct (cos this is the longest spec i played as lock for pve)
and i get arround arround 8k and my highest is 9kdps on dummy HC.


since in the other guide people always say dat afflict>demon>destruct, its really killin me to try this spec.

I would still say Aff>Demo>Destro. Most of the time I out-dps the other demo locks in my raid (pretty much equally geared).

This guide is still valid, just disregard the section on rolling corruption.
The bug was that corruption takes a 'snapshot' of your current haste rating when you apply it to the enemy target. Then corruption would keep this haste rating throughout the whole encounter as long as you refresh it via the everlasting affliction talent.
So to get maximum dps you would try to get hero/bl, eradication, black magic, trinket haste proc, potion of speed and power infusion and then apply corruption. This would result in a 3-4 second corruption which creates an insane amount of dps if kept up throughout the whole fight.

However this is fixed now and instead of it taking a 'snapshot' of haste, it takes one of you critical strike rating. Unfortunately there are less crit buffs you can gain.
The main two are: the use of the trinket nevermelting ice crystal and using a potion of wild magic. You'll want to cast improved shadowbolt for the 5% crit debuff, activate MIC and use PoWM then apply corruption to the target. This, combined with other raid buffs is going to make your corruption crit 70-90% of the time as long as you don't let it fall off and keep it up via everlasting affliction.

so now the BiS trinket is Nevermelting and Nameless lich ? and also the cap of the haste is it still 1400 since its not rolling on haste again?

Yes like a shadow priest. I think cts and dfo are still BiS because of the passive haste & sp procs. The only time you can really use nevermelting is on dbs, ldw (can get mc'd and corruption with drop off) and festergut (still could drop off while moving under spores). I personally only use it on dbs as I will always be on the target & so corruption cannot drop off.
Nameless lich is alright; the passive crit is meh but the sp proc is great; 20 seconds of 1200 sp? awesome proc. However your trinkets are still BiS.
I don't know anything about a haste cap for aff locks?

That used to be the case before they fixed the rolling haste bug now that haste no longer rolls you need not worry about this point.

The reason prior is explained in the initial post as well as the bug tracker report but simply put haste prior to the fix was snap shot rather than dynamic so it was ideal to cast corruption at the highest haste point possible, e.g. Eradication + HPot + Trinket + BL/Heroism.

Is it only me that my drain soul does only around 2k damage when target is below 25% or is it popular bug?
