1. BiS Restoration Shaman 3.3.5

Hello there, could anyone tell me whats your BiS Resto gear for shaman , curently obtainable in WOTLK ? Thank you :) What do you prefer, and why :)

  2. Talking about bis list for healer does not make sence. It heavily depends on fight and your personal healing style.

Things that you can say for 100% are that:
You want 4 t10 set bonus (skip legs for fester 25 cloth ones).
You want as much sp and intel on items as you can get.

    For trinkets:
Haste/sp ones on heavy aoe fights.
Sp/mp5 when you need to do more single target healing.

    For rest of the gear:
Get haste + crit gear for best throughput.
Haste + Mp5 for mana regen.
    Avoid crit + mp5 like a plague.

Ignore the stuff Jendah said, he's simply clueless.

The BiS list is the following:

    Head: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=51247
    Neck: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=50700
    Shoulders: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=51245
    Cloak: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=54583
    Chest: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=51249
    Bracers: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=54584
    Gloves: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=54560
    Waist: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=54587
    Legs: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=51246
    Boots: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=50699
    Rings: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=50664 and http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=50400
    Trinkets: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=47059 and http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=54589
    Weapon: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=50734
    Shield: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=50616
    Relic: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=50464

Gem spellpower and haste. The meta gem is: http://wotlk.openwow.com/item=41401

    Enchants:

Get spellpower crit on both head and shoulders, haste on cloak, 10 mp5 on chest, spellpower on bracers and gloves, eternal belt buckle on waist, spellpower stamina on legs, tuskarr's vitality on boots, spellpower on weapon and intellect on shield.

    Glyphs:

Major: Glyph of Chain Heal, Glyph of Healing Wave and Glyph of Earthliving Weapon.
    Minor: Glyph of Water Shield.

Some people would argue that the neck Blood Queen's Crimson Choker is better than Holiday's Grace, but it's not cause the haste on BQL neck is terrible compared to the mp5 on Holiday's. (Once you reach 1200+ haste it doesn't scale as well)

As for the gloves the ones I linked are ilvl 271, but they're better cause of the crit. Unclean Surgical Gloves are NOT BiS.

After getting around 1200-1300 haste, crit is what you want next (notice how every piece except for the ICC ring in the actual BiS gear list gives crit).

The mp5 you get from neck, legs, trinket and the ICC ring is enough mp5. The reason why it's enough mp5 (only around 600-650 fully raid buffed WITH Solace stacked up) is because of the talent Improved Water Shield. This talent is one of the reasons crit is your main stat after getting 1200-1300 haste. The other reasons as to why crit is your main stat is because of your t10 4 piece set bonus, Ancestral Healing, Ancestral Awakening and untop of that critting is fun. With BiS gear you're almost at 55% crit fully buffed, which means that you'll never oom during any fight(crit = mp5 cause of the talent Improved Water Shield) unless you'd for some reason spam healing wave for 2 minutes or something lol. People will probably disagree with the neck, gloves and the ring because, you know... THERE'S ITEMS WITH HIGHER ITEM LEVEL, THEREFORE THEY'RE BETTER. I've been maining rsham for 8 years, and I wouldn't bother writing all this **** unless I knew that I was right. The BiS list above is in fact the list you want in order to do max healing. If you have any further questions feel free to ask them here or ingame by sending a mail to Stormtide on Deathwing.

if you are not blind, or ignorant, you can tell the list is wrong. For one, he has all but mail gear on!! One piece of cloth, or one piece of leather,? Thats probably ok. However, if anyonre tries to follow this girls list of "bis items for shaman" , and we will end up having all other people roll gear thats not for them and never gear up any smart brained people that know their class. Second, as shaman you need haste to cast more healing spells. Thats our first priority, then spell power to improve healing done, then mp5 and crit. We need no other stats. If we are going to mainly go after haste gear till cap. Why would we go after crit gear? The proc from the talent tree you mentioned, only procs if you crit a spell. Most good brained bis shaman only have 36% crit tops, and we will never gem for crit. We dont need to waste, and hope the ability procs if we can cast 5 healing spells in less then 6 seconds.

And like jenah said. Avoid mp5 and crit items together unless you have no better item for that slot or are haste cap and need mp5.

What he said about BIS gear being subjective based upon an encounter, heal set-up & overall raid comp is completely true, if you deny that then it's you who has no clue.

  7. There are two kinds of build for Resto Shaman, though their BIS list are identical.

T10 HEAD, SHOULDER, CHEST AND LEGS.

NECK - Blood Queen's Crimson Choker

CLOAK - Cloak of Burning Dusk

WRIST - Bracers of Fiery Night

SHIELD - Bulwark of Smouldering Steel

    HAND - Unclean Surgical Gloves.

    BELT - Split Shape Belt

    FEET - Plague Scientist's Boots

RING - Ring of Rapid Ascent

TRINKET 1 - Solace of the Defeated
TRINKET 2 - Glowing Twilight Scale

Notice these gears doesn't give MP5 stat. You can switch around the gears you wanted if you have MANA problems.
    OR
You get the talent to improve your Water Shield MANA regen + Glyph.

  8. there is no true BiS list. its all boss dependent. any good player knows that. you will find yourself swapping gear and specs a lot on your shaman when doing H modes.

  9. Only a guy pretending to be a know-it-all pro would suggest that. Who would waste the time and effort to swap gears and spec as a Resto Shaman healing end game contents, and not to mention you are with high end gears. If you know how to manage everything and function well, you won't have any issues regarding Specs and Gears, unless you are a child. All you have to do is heal on time and help your co-healers. I don't see any BIS Shaman crying over not using the right spec / gear for a specific encounter.

Why would you waste the effort with gemming? I dont understand that. You can heal everything without gems just fine. Why would tanks try to get frost resist gear for sindra? Why armor at lk? We have 30% icc buff, all those are just somthing extra... Thats how you sound to me..

Its understandable that you try to find 1 gear/spec to fill all your needs, especially if you want to use your offspec for something else. If all you do with your shaman is healing then you can make 2 more specialized talent specs instead of 1 general. Thats perfectly fine as well. Ofc you dont have to swap trinkets (and other gear) depending on fight, but you can and it will benefit your raid more than just changing playstyle. You dont have to do anything extra, but you can.. and when there is a possibility to have better performance wouldnt that be bis for that situation?

you could not be more wrong. a real healer knows how to min max their healing and playstyle to maximize their healing for every encounter. sure can you roll 1 spec and 1 set and do ok? yes you can. will it outperform on certain fights compared to someone who swaps for a specific encounter who has similar skills? no.

BiS shaman? LOL again. there is no BiS list and ill argue that with anyone. Any good shaman knows that. spec is another one i can argue all day long. there are a few specs where you might need one thing or another in order to max your healing. it all depends what you are doing.

like Jenda said- there are certain things people swap to for certain fights for a reason. to improve survival, dps, and healing. swapping playstyle does effect how you do things but play styles on shaman really do require the gear swap to shine. you wouldn't be rolling GTS for example on rotface you would want something more mana efficient. why? in case you die. for that fight everyone is spread out which really hurts GTSs healing in that fight. Another example is HLK you want to roll scepter on this fight depending if your druid has the legendary or not and how good your disc is. if they are not that good or having trouble with keeping people shielded you might want to swap.

Heroic RS the mace is useless here and since shamans are usually assigned to healing the tanks scepter is better here as well. Trinket swap on RS is also key as well as rolling more spell power crit gear for this encounter. even swapping glyphs since you wont be doing much chain heal there are plenty of other glyphs that help with your other heals that you will want to swap out forr. Trust me, there are times and reasons why swapping is needed on encounters in order for you to perform at your best. Not saying this to be mean but you really ought to do some research into this before you continue this train of thought you are going on because it is dead wrong.

  12. I'm sure with bis list of Truetide. I have note only about neck. Even God can't prove me that Holiday's Grace > Chocker. Even chocker normal version is in time better than grace hc version. If i must be honest even gunship neck with haste and hit is better option than grace if you prefer to play with bizuru relic and spam flame shock. Fast explanation: Crit > mana regen. If you think that you overcap your haste rating with chocker you can use some gems 23SP instead of 12SP + 10 haste. All is about how you will manage your gems and ofc to take your bonus SP from them but don't tell me that item with crit and mana regen is over item with crit and haste for resto shaman. Chocker gains you 60 haste bonus = 6 gems 23 SP instead of 6 gems 12SP + 10 haste => you will win 66SP >>> 34 mana regen. 34 mana regen more is nothing with so much crit. With your bis gear you should have around 45% crit unbuffed , with all buffs around 52% its nice. Other note for me is your meta gem. Revitalizing Skyflare Diamond > Insightful Earthsiege Diamond. i'll repeat again you don't need so much mana regen. Ashen finger + solace + T10 legs + all intellect what you recive from all gear gain you enough mana regen (around 500 while casting) + max crit = GG. Shaman use mostly time Chain heal, HW and Riptide. For riptide and HW you have 100% chance to gain mana on crit. For CH you have 30% chance but you hit 4 targets with glyph (it will gain you mana for every criticaly hitted target if the talent procs ofc) => again we touch the critical raiting. If you are lucky with CH you can return more mana than you wasted for this CH or to return same amount of mana. :P About glyphs i can add only that for some specific situations if you are mainly tank healer Glyph of Lesser Healing Wave can you helps a lot. In ICC on critical it will increase your LHW with around 5k not bad. :P

Funky look man i respect you but you are wrong here. So you said there hasn't bis gear for shaman its true in half. So there has 3 items in shaman gear where you can switch depends from encounter. It's trinkets and weapon. About weapons shaman has 3 choose: Royal, Trauma and Valanyr. I'll start with Valanyr - no everyone can allow yourself to have it. After molten wipe you need to know this. Second Trauma. So useless. Only thing good in this is SP and yellow socket nothing else. For all LOD with 35% chain heal and 30 % HW statistic of my recount it procs onyl 1 time and it was about 15k healing done (i give for example LOD fight because it's longest fight and i can see better how trauma manages). And we reach Royal. SP, crit, haste all what shaman needs. So now trinkets. There has 4 choose of trinkets where you can switch depends from boss fight. Rs trinket, solace, Abacus and trinket from frost emblems (i don't see the point to look other trinkets at). What about rest gear. Set, fingers, neck, feet, waist, back and etc. you think that there has replacement ? LoL if you think this. For last i can tell you it's not about shaman items or gear its about guild. Every guild has their own playstyle. You are in Aurora from too much years and you should know this. For example try to play in other guild with different playstyle from yours and we will talk again. Personaly for almost all encounters i use Royal + Glowing + Solace only for Valitria i switch trinkets depends from my job. If i'm raid healer Glowing + Solace, if i'm on the boss from outside Solace + frost emblem's trinket if i'm on the boss and collect stacks Abacus + Glowing.

Dude you must kidding with me. With what brain you said 36% is top or cap crit for shaman where you read this who told you that? Stop mislead ppl here with so so wrong information. It's same to tell us that SP has a cap O_o dude really think before post something unprepared. All is about how you will balance all important stats for you (SP,haste, crit and mana regen) to manage with all situations. What you think will happen if you fill with haste and ignore crit and SP, i'll tell you - nothing you will beg for inervate in first hard situation. What is the point from 1300 or 1400 haste after you haven't enough crit or mana regen, your mana to manage with so much haste. May be you never been in hard situation for any encounter or you never been in hc raid with not so good dps as well then you will understand for what i talking about. Second a big amount of critical is not only about mana return from water shield. Now i want to log with your shaman and very very careful to read [Ancestral Awakening] talent and p4 T10 bonus, then back to talk (I only will hint you there has primary and secondary Ancestral Awakening). I won't talk that if you know how to heal properly p2 T10 and Tidal Waves talent make filling of so much haste really useless. Haste raiting affects only over Chain Heal for real.
