Hello, So im hunter and to get in VoA as a hunter you will 100% need to know tactics for boss so i decided to learn them. I read some articles and spoke to IGN hunters and asked around and got the general idea what i need to do. So i tried it but i was failing. So i got some great tips from hunter to get DBM - Deadly Boss mod and now i have timers on the screen. However my problem comes in when should I cast my Distracting shot? Someone said it was 2 seconds before cast of fists and someone said 1 second before fists but I always seem to fail tried like 6-7 times and failed. We almost did it once but other pala after my shot kited it a bit more b4 giving aggro to main tank.
SO my question to you is what is the time i should shoot my distracting shot?
-Thanks hunters
First of all, even though I didn't watch Meteor Fists timer in particular, many DBM timers are off by a couple seconds (sometimes more), so unless you're absolutely sure they're accurate, I wouldn't rely too much on them.
Secondly, Meteor Fists has a 1.5s cast duration which makes it very easy to pay attention to (given you have enemy cast bar visible on your UI) and casting distracting shot during that window sounds totally acceptable to me.
Never use distracting shot... I question what kind of raid group you are with if this is necessary at all...
The problem with distracting shot, is that when you feign death afterward the boss instantly hits the nearest player regardless of threat. This means that if you FD after kiting a bit, the boss could easily turn around and cleave the whole raid before running back to the tank(s).
Basically, don't join raids that force you to have to do something janky like this. Just MD the main tank, dps hard, FD when you get high on threat, and avoid flame cinders if they spawn under you. It isn't rocket science.
I've done Voa Successfully with my fellow guildmates with hunter's using distracting shot while. I guess the trick there is when you use DS. You're tank should be fast enough to taunt it back as well. The hunter i've been seeing doesn't even use FD. Our server is on Lordaeron though where MF musn't hit.
