Is it ok for Enchancement shamans to roll need on leather items in 60-70 dungeons? Offcourse, they should prioritize the mail items, but if the shamy has a green item and a blue leather one comes up, its a big improvement. The items give the exact same stats except for the int. I was having a disscussion about this with a friend, and im interested to hear your thoughts.
All physical dps roll on Leather, it sucks for the rogues but that's the reality of the situation when the best itemised gear is leather, especially in some cases when there are no real viable options outside of leather. In our raids (T4 on farm) the leather is pretty much rolled equally among all the physical dps depending on who gets the most from it, and I think that is quite common.
An Enhance or Fury that has access to the leather drops will reach a much higher level than one who sticks to its own armor class, of course if there are strong mail/plate options in those situations you should favour the Rogues and it has to be addressed on a case by case basis. In dungeons I think it's fairly accepted at 70 that everyone rolls on strong upgrades regardless of armor class, but it's at least polite to let people know you're going to do it before hand.
Real big example are the Slave Pens HC Midnight Legs, which are incredibly strong for melee dps.. And infact from a strict DPS point of view Rogues actually get a slightly better upgrade from the crafted Fel Leather legs, or the Skulkers Greaves from Netherspite.
