Got a ret pally, Unholy Dk and Warr all in decent gear but wanna donate and get 1 of em BiS. thinking of going warr for the fun factor cause i love killing healers but i only really play solo, would you still say warrs are good fun? dont wanna drop a load of money then wish i'd done it on my dk or pally. You seem to be having lots of fun on warr tho which is defo making me wanna go warr as i'm more about fun than just being OP. your thoughts?
Hmmmm hard question ... I am still not sure about the answer ...
I have 6.7k pretty much BiS War with Mourne
Full Warthful 6.2kish Ret Pally with Bauble that I play with high Resi 1200ish
And a fun thrash gear UH / Frost DK - but I have played Blood with Relentless+Wrahtful on Blackrock
My conclusions so far:
1) War is definitely TONs of fun for ME cause I like a lot of mobility - charing around fights from person to person is something I really enjoy :D what I don't enjoy much though is when your teamates don't heal you - BUT enemies get healed :D that sucks ... but I have also won many 1v3s and more - aginst lower skilled / geared people in BGs - especially past week
2) Pally is by far super good playing solo - especially if enemy has no healer - also I like to play my Pally more defensive helping people around me and healing them too and cleansing and stuff - but not too much - especially if we have other healers on our own - is really about striking that balance between doing enough DPS to be effective and yet still throw that cluth BoP on Mage or Sacrifice or Flash on War when needed :)
3) DK I can't say much about UH or Frost cause I only played those in Thrash Gear. But on my Blood 50k-60k ish HP 1300 Resi DeathGrip Bot I had ton of fun taknking front lines grabing ppl to their death with super low CD :D
Is more of a Survival BG Spec - feel free to try it on BlackRock :D is also super effective for duelz :D
Duels lost 65
Duels won 96
So to make some conclusion - I would buy Shadowmourne / better gear on char you like the playstyle of the most ...
My choice with War was cause he is Gnome and I don't like to have the responsibility to buff and heal people - hence I chose a class I only press 1 button to buff - Battle/Commanding Shout - and I don't have to heal.
Maybe if I knew better how DK works I might considered that class, but I don't like DK spell animations - except Frost those are cool :D
I do like Paladins animations a lot and I am considering getting Shadowmourne on my Pally, but I am just not sure is worth / needed since I am already toping killing blows charts in BGs on my Pally as much or even more then on my War
And THAT MIGHT be the LAST THING to consider!!
If you only gonna donate for FEW items - meaning your char will be about 6kish GS for PvP I would pick Ret over War ANY DAY! I think Ret in 6k GS >>>> War in 6k GS as far as fun in BGs and even Arenas go. Same for UH DK.
Basically on lower gear (6k) DK+Ret are WAY better then War. When BiS I like War more though :D
Actually here you go for some pictures of the FUN I have had in past 6months on my Ret Pally - I was mostly playing only 1-3x / month on weekends and mostly BGs only - like 3-4x games / evening and log off and I HAD A ****ING BLAST doing that - in fact that was a sole reason I kept WoW installed and slowly over the past 6 months I kept playing my Ret more :
(no Mourne, no PvE offsets - mostly just regular BiS PvP lvl 264 off set gear that you buy for honor - including boots, also just regular 264 rings)
Oh and I LOVE ENGENEERING!!! If I could just swap it for a profession on my War without needing to lvl it I would pick it on War too! Is by far BEST profession for BGs! Hands down!

As an experienced warrior (both WotLK & Cata) myself, to put things simple, I would say you NEED to have a healer to be unstoppable in order to have that killing spree kind of fun. Without a healer, you can't just charge onto someone or a group of players and expect to blow everyone off... if you are looking for that kind of fun, what you need is a healer, not SM. Without a healer, other classes will always have an edge over you... warriors are just generally suck at 1v1 or 1 v many.
My point is, SM alone won't be able to offer you that much fun. But SM is definitely an advantage, don't get me wrong.
Or you could save your money and spend it somewhere else, or gear up a new character. Just my 2 cents.
I remember when I went with my prot pve warrior to farm something and a furry war and his druid friend attacked me. Kek, I just stood there and attacked them as well. Druid died and then fwarr was just spamming /laugh and went afk.
I stumbled upon this thread by accident but I must say it turned out unexpectedly entertaining. I'm also thinking about donating a bit for gearing up a single character somewhat decently. No shadowmourne or anything just a few items to make me a bit competitive. I play mostly solo and BGs only, no arena at all.
Pala would be the obvious choice but just like you I also don't enjoy the "buffing and healing others" aspect that much. That probably leaves me with DK, as warrior with mediocre gear would be lackluster I think.
Anyway it's nice to have a solo player's perspective on these classes, please keep us posted.

OP is fantastic at playing an Arms Warrior. However, if you look at his screenshots from his Retribution Paladin, you can see he easily out performs his Warrior without having the best gear. The playstyle is different, but in terms of effectiveness and options for endgame content, Paladins should be the obvious choice. Also, you really don't have to heal, buff, or cleanse people if you don't want to. Sometimes your time is better spent killing the enemy rather than supporting teammates. Having the ability to do so just gives you more options as a well-timed Lay on Hands, Hand of Freedom, Hand of Protection, Cleanse, Hand of Sacrifice... etc. can certainly turn the tide of battle. I would also recommend Death Knights over Warriors as they are very tanky and can be very effective without BiS gear. And when you do get BiS gear, with the backing of a healer, you can become an absolute killing machine. Just look up Darkimmortal.
And yea ... you are right ... Pally seems way easier to play indeed :D but I haven't really played much in last 6-7months honestly :D
Since buying SM on War = make the investment / commitment I have been mostly playing War only :D
But yea I am currently thinking if I should buy some gear for Pally / make Protection spec on War ...
But there is this awesome dude called Rama (Arms Warrior) and Wreckula (who might be using scripts or might not - everyone says different) and they kind of inspire me to keep dueling in Arms in front of SW as they pretty ****ing awesome at duels!!
Also I find it really satisfying to getting better and better on my War :D
I call AV AFK Valley, and IoC Isle of Cancer, because half the time you will find 2 or 3 guys AFKing at spawn, while half your team charge through mid just to come to a full stop at the enemy gate. Meanwhile, poor bastards driving glaives are usually by themselves and getting three-shotted by rogues. Often times you will have to do the objectives yourself, and it is not always possible (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9LSwFeZPgE).
Normally, I give each of these maps about 5 minutes to determine if it is worth my time. I rather play alts and come back in 15 minutes than suffer through a 30 minute game where half the team just goes around looking for stuff to kill. On the plus side, if you get raid buffed in BG's and then leave and log off, you get to keep your buffs while the deserter debuff expires.
