WotLK My Donated Weapon Disappeared

After i equiped for a quest the Argent Lance i lost my main weapon .
I made a ticket and the GM say`s it cannot help me in this matter .
Is it possible to take it back ? Or atleast let me know what happend ?

Your item might be in your mailbox.

If something breaks with an item the server will usually automatically put it in your mailbox.
