WotLK Icecrown low level BGs

Can someone please explain to me why low level BGs on Icecrown never pop? I sat in a queue one night for an hour with it still saying unavailable.

Because of a lack of players, evidently. Few people will queue BGs at low level, they want to get to 80 so they can start playing the game.

The magician has 350 resistance. And the paladin has 550. can resistance be removed?

It is probably because your paladin has an item not obtainable on Frostmourne.
