WotLK Engineering or Jewelcrafting as tank ?

Hello, I would like to know which profession is better between Engineering or Jewelcrafting as a paladin tank ? ( my first profession is mining )

JC offers the most "raw stats". Engi offers quite some nice utility/quirks like nitroboots or a decent enchant for gloves.
The difference in stats is almost negligible and it mostly comes down to your personal preference and/or other specs/uses for the toon.
I'm hugely into engi on any toon just because I love nitroboots/parachute and the other fun stuff engi provides.

Unless you want mining for money (and you're better off using a herba/mining druid then) i'd go for jc/engi or jc/bs though.
