WotLK Gems for Arcane Mage (5k-ish gs)

I have been thinking about stacking Haste gems into my gem slots but before I financially cripple myself with a bad decision I want to hear some advice.

are the arcane viable for lower gs only? frost seems cool tho

I feel that upgrades are going to keep coming in so you can swap your gems slowly lest you get a new piece of gear after spending your gold

Before you change though, consider:

Are you OOMing badly during ICC boss fights even when adjusting rotation? More haste = More casts = More mana expended quicker.
If you are, maybe wait for upgrades before going for more haste. If you're totally fine with mana, try arcane blasting more, and if you're still too comfortable, then you know its time to swap out to haste gems.
