Hello. Would it be a terrible idea to buy Alliance Medalion ilvl 260 for a new lvl 80 player?

I have read that it would make matchmaking algorithm think that you are like fully geared and match with fully geared killer dudes.

Or should I intentionally avoid high ilvl items? This on the other hand seems like a waste of honor points.

I don't know how the match making works now, when Frostmourne has been discontinued, but I never (outside of late at night or early morning, when there's no ppl queuing) see people as badly geared as you describe in my BGs (I play the BiS bracket).
