1. started playing warmane roughly 2 weeks ago and here are my concerns.

got back into wow after years and decided to roll this server since im not that much of a fan of what retail has to offer right now. (currently on ice crown)

leveled my 1st character to 80 (shadow priest) and was pretty eager to get started with gearing/pvp/raiding. what iv experienced these last few weeks on icecrown has been about 90% infuriating and 10% very enjoyable.

from a new warmane player's perspective, here are my current mind boggling problems with warmane currently. (this is not me hating this is just an analysis)

    - THE COMMINITY/PVE

    1. starting out as someone new on a server thats playing solo in a world of established players with multiple characters for nearly a decade is extremely difficult. from getting gold to finding groups you really feel the uphill battle and the severe adversities that come with that. the community is not new player friendly at all, the amount of gatekeeping and toxicity you deal with is extremely exhausting. the community insists on prioritizing over geared people for content when it literally does not benefit them over someone a little lower in GS who would benefit from it greatly even if they understand and know the mechanics of the raid. iv only managed to find a new alt runs where the raid leader was nice and generous enough to bring me in being 5.2k and honestly it was a blast, everyone was super chill and respectful and overall the icc was a success. but the other side of the fence is extremely sad, iv been called slurs and multiple other things for simply asking for summons, even kicked for next to nothing. iv been kicked before for asking for a reminder on how certain phases work since its been so long. iv never seen more insecure whiney *****es who go straight to saying the most unhinged garbage over the smallest thing. GMs really need to start doing their jobs or the staff need to hire more dedicated ones to deal with it. overall this is horrific for community stability. when iv tried voicing these concerns most just brush it off or again call me some stupid obscenity because how dare i question the shameless environment iv had to sit in.

    2. guilds as a new player are borderline worthless. some of the "new player" ones iv been invited to dont do anything but try to advertise their boosts to sucker people into their ****ty services, or other guilds have extremely wild requirements with GDKP which is bar none the most garbage system known to man for a server where new people must compete with extreme veterans for anything. others are just simply not active enough to progress at all.

    3. auction house. it is severely inflated. seeing things cost 10+k gold and up is insane for a newer player to handle. especially since again alot of people buy gold and the cycle continues of a really inflated economy. thankfully iv managed to get alot of gems and enchants which is awesome but getting gear there as a fresh newer 80 is not even worth looking at because of this.

    - PVP

    1. the pvp match making for both BGs and arena is extremely miserable. blackrock being able to cross queue with others is inherently unbalanced and just straight up unfun. going into pvp with free relentless vs fresh 80s with greens in lower GS queues is the most one sided stomp iv ever seen. a good handful dont even complete the bgs they just leave and get replaced when they realize the situation at hand (as horde iv won maybe a total of 10% of bgs since iv started regardless of how well i do). also why are they able to get pve gear with other points but we cant have relentless weapon vendors or atleast decrease the costs of some sets to keep up with their server structure. this is even worse in arena when again im *****ed at by blackrock donkeys and called many things for currently having full furious and some wrathful vs all relentless/wraithful when they simply get it much easier. solo queuing arena is not a good experience because of this, alot of the players have paid real money for their gear and weapons but im the one getting *****ed at for simply trying to solo my way up a bit to get some more pieces... "get better gear" but how am i supposed to do that when AGAIN im being gate kept from playing in order to do that by some pay to win kids or blackrock relentless base 80s. being told in the most broken english to "go do bg nub" when im maxed out on BG gear is just infuriating and braindead. TLDR soloing vs pay to win minmaxers and template characters is unfun and unbalanced. cloth solo queue vs full bis plates is just xddddd

    2. multiboxing. it has straight up ruined wintergrasp and many other world pvp interactions. pretty self explanatory as to why i feel like i dont need to elaborate for those who understand how multiboxing functions.

overall the state of pvp on this server too me is not that great and should get looked at in the near future.

iv really enjoyed the gameplay at a base level and had a blast leveling. the world pvp was fun for the most part and i give that an A+. after that though it feels like the hump from getting past 4-5kish gear score is ruined by alot of things that i feel like can be improved greatly. im more than open to constructive discussion if people think im wrong about something or anything.

  2. All very original, never heard before.

  3. Understand your frustration but... what did you expect from a 20 year old game and a 10 year old server? The same arguments can be applied to any old game/community.

I have been here since Molten days (so since the beginning) on and off. I have achieved everything I want on Icecrown - I don't play there anymore. It's probably absolute trash for new players/accounts and not worth your time if you're looking for a positive experience after a long break.

Come to Onyxia, super active Vanilla community and TBC is launching in 2 weeks. Server is absolutely packed and now is the perfect time to join when gear doesn't matter and guilds are recruiting for raids.

(unfortunately at the end of it's lifecycle, Onyxia characters will trasnfer to Icecrown and the server shuts down... so all roads lead to Icecrown)

  4. Yes, things could be better.

Though I'm getting some 'I'm entitled to this and that' feels from this post.

    Community/PvE
    1. Getting gold is easy. People are just ignorant to most of the profits they could make while they level. Slap any reasonable low level green BoE item on AH for 1-5 gold and it's sold by the next day. Same goes for some trade goods.
People ask for over geared people as, well, some players have no clue how to play. Over geared players at least won't get one shot when they fail simple tactics, and they should pump more dmg than lower geared player with similar skill. It's just making the raid easier and perhaps more secure in a way.
If you have low gear but high skill, ask the leader to ask you questions about the raid/class and answer them. You should get in when you show you actually know how to play (and gear your character accordingly). I've seen too many 5.2k fury warriors thinking BiS level itemization/gemming is the way to go from start.
Game is old, guides are everywhere and if you don't know tactics (at least the basics), I dunno why you expect random PUG host to tell you what to do. PUG's aren't places to learn honestly.
No amount of GM's or staff will make the community any better.

    2. I don't think GDKP holds that much presence here. I rather join a DKP guild than loot council. Loot council can work, but there's always certain sus moments with loot that makes you question staying there. I'd only join fresh LC guild for the fun of it (progression) over the desire of getting loot. Sadly more casual guilds are hit or miss, and there aren't that many. I've rolled enough alts without joining guilds that I can say sometimes it's just better to be out of them, until you want Bane/LoD/RS HC.

    3. Was the fresh level 80 somehow supposed to be entitled to the 10k+ BoE's? I just graduated college, now give me $50/hr vibe. No, not everybody just buy coins/gold, they farm for them too.

.. Maybe I should start a new project alt to see if the fresh player experience on Icecrown is as bad as some people make it out to be.

  5. Also dont forget to mention that arenas/battlegrounds are full of scripters.

Thats why many people focus on PvE, because they dont want to waste time on cheaters in PvP.

  6. It will never get better because there's way too many no lifers on warmane who look at the game as a lifestyle and not a game for entertainment.

  7. .. Maybe I should start a new project alt to see if the fresh player experience on Icecrown is as bad as some people make it out to be.
It's actually really pleasant, people even whisper useful info and such. Geared up my transmuter hunter, no one was grumpy about my triumph/fospos gear in icc's. Pugs held together real good, even wiped in RS for 1.5hrs until we killed him. Didn't use points/gold/coins to get any gear. Got promoted to core raider in 3 weeks in my guild. Smooth and nice.
So idk what this guy was doing, since he's printing blankets here - probably his objective is a bunch of drama to collect points in victimhood olympics.

  8. I have had similar experience as OP. Then I moved to Lordaeron, stopped doing PvP and joined a friendly guild. It's the best way to enjoy this server.

Every experience is subjective and, therefore, different.
Getting up in the chair and spitting out your experience as truth and therefore considering it simple what to do to progress/obtain gold/etc., without making yourself available for a discussion, as you did, is useless, toxic, extremely annoying and does nothing but confirm the words written by @HamdaN1.
How many people like this have I seen and experienced...
Making your experience public, making yourself available for a constructive discussion (even though there is nothing constructive on this server anymore) should (but on this server I would say "could") be the rule to fix/balance the gameplay.
Unfortunately, as @L0vedbyF3w said above, we are talking about a server with 10+ years of play and people who don't sleep at night to build equipment and break the balls of those who have no experience or equipment and would like to build both.

  10. So we have 4 subjective and, therefore, different experiences.

However there is an objective reason why these players had a bad experience and I had a good one. I don't know that reason, but the fact that I don't think that someone owes me "good experience" could be it. Even more, I don't think that people should be punished for not giving me this "good experience", because only way to achieve it is by pointing a barrel.

  11. I think you are right.

I also started playing last year, what I noticed was a big *** toxicity even in low lvl dungeons with instant kicks if you don't get enough DPS without any explaining. Forming raids is one of the most toxic things on this server. How ever is this not the fault of Warmane but of community, and it should be some introspection by all of us.

PvP is completly and utterly ****ed with the Blackrock cross over and multi boxers in WG. I've allready had a battle with the support about it but the truth is that they don't really care.. The multi boxers are usually top donors and thats whats really important for Warmane. Its sad, but like retail world of warcraft its just not new player friendly. And thats the sad part

  12. Retail players come here and then when they get reckt in pvp, start complaining usually because of two things :
    -donators BiS geared players
    -multiboxing
Also expecting to roflstompin everything when you're fresh dinged 80 and 4kgs lol

  13. GDKP is not a thing on Warmane apart from in VERY small discord only groups.
Gearing up is not hard, get level 80 farm rdf > buy the boes and so on eventually you will be able to do toc 10/25 and then after 25.
Join some random progression guild that dont have lod on farm that runs with dkp and you will easily be able to get decent gear.
Also look out for discord only runs and stay in their discord servers for future runs (Yes you are likely to get invited back if you stay and dont screw up)

Nobody is gate keeping you in pvp, farm weekly flush for points rating dont matter for you at the beginning. Buy rele gear with EOFs if you actually want to bother with it and not focus on pve. Else you are going to be stuck with mostly furious gear until you are full wf
I can go in with a starter dk on blackrock with a healer and beating out fully bis teams that have less experience and knowledge compared to me and my partner.
Not everything is gear related as you make it out to be.

A year ago I fully geared up a new character without sending anything from my main over and I was quickly able to afford all the boe, enchants and gems that I needed by just spamming dungeons and actually playing the game. That led to getting into toc 10/25 runs and eventually icc/rs. Not everything is going to be spoon feed to you instantly.

  14. You are right on many parts, things should not be spoon fed to you like gold, gear, etc its part of playing the game. You can't expect to kill Lich King if you started playing 2 weeks ago or even a month. It needs work. It's also quit easy to join a pug if you would like to raid on PvE. Just a bit toxic community, but there are also wonderful people on it.

But I think allowing multi boxers in PvP like arena and WG just really messes the balance up for PvP, forcing people to go in PvE, like you said, just get EOF for Rele gear. I think its really horse **** trying to gear a full pvp char, just by the balance being going, also with Blackrock players.

Rele gear otherwise costs arena points that you shouldnt waste on non bis gear. Thats why getting it for EOFs if you can is optional.
