Inactivity Cleanup and Gold Squish for a healthier economy

"Level 1 and above characters that have not been played since January 2024 will have their names removed."
Every year there is a clean-up of unused characters, since there are players who keep names just for the sake of it.

If you are going to have a bank character and have no other use for it, name it mybank1234 and leave good names for people who will actually make use of it.

Many people around and those who yell at this thread now - got renamed against initial Warmane announcements.

For instance:
I have log in a played a while Every low lever character on several accounts during February 2025.
Not "since January 2024", but this February!
And not just account log in, but every character.
And most of them chaotically got rename mark even without any logic.

Some people also say here that they got rename mark even on active 80 lvl characters.

People also cry for gold squish here.
Because it was initially stated that the gold should be simply halved (50% right?).
So they got away not 50, but 75%!

How could you explain that all?

What I don't understand is why we can't use the SAME NAME and we have to use a NEW one. I've tried with several names to eliminate the possibility that they had only "stolen" one of my names but NO.
I think it's a huge mistake and I hope you fix it. It's not fair that players who have been on the server for years do this to us. I hope for a response, thanks.

Update: suddenly I could log in with some characters but not with others. I renamed my main's name, then spent 10 points to change it back to the original name which wouldn't let me change from open and then it let me log in with ALL the other characters except one, oddly enough I have the name in icecrown and lordaeron... I just spent another 10 points renaming that character and now a character I could log in with won't let me... I'm tired of this ****.

Hello Admin Warmane. Please tell your audience in this forum thread or another what happened after the compression after the second shutdown? All the people who successfully reserved new names after the first compression, after the server shutdown they lost them forever! I ask as a fan of your server, and also as someone who was affected by this and lost their main names, I respectfully request you to let us know what is going on and if this issue will be resolved and if we can get our lost names back?! There was a mistake made by the Staff affecting characters created or named in 2025, but we are going to fix it. For that we apologize.
Users who still got the problem should send an email to [email protected] describing the situation.
