Who wins BG more? (The BG experiment)
Today I was bored and I decided to do an experiment. I played Alliance and Horde simultaneously in BG. I played a BM Hunter on Ally and a Holy Paly on Horde. I started about 11 PM server time. I defended/captured towers, ran flags, protected flag carriers, killed flag carrier etc. I did every thing I normally would do, but on 2 characters at the same time on opposite faction.
Before I get to my results Here is some differences between the factions I saw. It isn't to be taken serious or literal. The experiment doesn't define a faction. Just the outcome of what I saw. Here is some differences and similarities:
-Both sides complain about under geared players
-Both sides say something when players rush the flag in EOTS.
-Ally focuses more on defense. Horde seems to have some unwritten rule that only 1 person can defend in AB. If I see a lone Horde defender at the mine I will go help them out. But after 30-45 secs they will leave me alone there. Like it's taboo to have more than 1 defender. Ally constantly had 2-3 defenders at most points.
-Both sides are easily distracted. When a flag carrier is being escorted by 3-6 friendly I liek to do something. I run thru the middle of them on my mount and get them to chase me. Almost every time the flag carriers entourage will peel off of him and chase me. Leaving the flag carrier alone and vulnerable. Both sides chased me numerous times while their flag carrier got killed.
-Usually under geared Horde won't pick up the flag in WSG or Twin Peaks. They will let the higher geared people carry the flag. On ally they don't. It's like a free for all. I think Ally focuses more on speed than survivability. Like a druid is eager to get the flag becasue hes "fast" but will be 3 shotted. On Horde if 3-4 360+ players are at the flag, they will stand there and make sure the player with the most survivability picks it up.
-During big battles (5vs5) you can usually always count on a Horde healer being part of the battle. But on Ally it's usually all dps. But I believe this is because of the defense. Healers tend to defend more than DPS on both sides. Horde just seems to have a disposable healer following the mob.
-Both sides seemed to have a equal amount of afkers. Anywhere from 0-3 akers.
-Ally never seems to quit. If they are losing a WSG 0-2 they will try their hardest to still win. No matter how hopeless. Some Horde seem to give up after 1 flag cap in WSG or Twin Peaks.
-Horde chats way more in BG than Ally. It's not always nice chat. But Ally chat is almost non existent.
Overall it was fun on Horde and Ally. Each side had some difference but overall it wasn't very difficult to win on either side. It took more effort to win on Horde, but not that much more effort.
I played 20 games. 10 on each side at the same time.
On Alliance I won all 10 games.
On Horde I won 8 of 10
I never saw myself in any BG. But I did que at the exact same time. Horde has quicker ques. Only by a minute or so.
I only really lost 1 game on Horde. It was an EOTS (thank you flag rushers). The other loss I joined a losing game (also EOTS).
I realize my experiment has all sorts of flaws. Such as factions are different at different times of the day. Also it's kinda luck to get into a winning or losing rotation in rbg. Normally I will que dodge crappy teams but today I didn't. I just happen to get into 2 winning cycles. After 5 games I waited to que to get another random cycle. I tried to find a losing cycle on both sides but I didn't find any.
Try it sometime, it's fun.
