Question regarding loot rules in dungeons
I will start like this:
We all know, that in dungeons people are allowed to NEED gear items, which offer an upgrade to their current spec. Everything else (in terms of gear) should be GREEDed, else it would be reported as a ninja act. But what if a certain role doesn't want a specific item, because they either have it or have a better one already? If that player announces to the others, that they aren't interested in the said loot, but another dude wants to roll it for their offspec, can that person select NEED for it?
This happened to me 1-2 months ago. I was healing in HoR and I was only doing my daily rdf for the 2 EoFs. I had already obtained the items from that instance, so I didn't want anything else from there. While I was doing my job, all of a sudden I got a whisper from the paladin tank, who wanted the trinket for his holy offspec. Since I had no interest in the item, I gave him my permission to roll NEED for it under the condition, that he also informed the others of his decision. They didn't start any drama, so at the end he got the trinket and everything went fine. But with the recent thread in the Q&A section talking about ninja looting in dungeons and after remembering the aforementioned scenario, I would like to ask the community whether such cases COULD be considered as an exception to the rule or the circumstances don't matter and everyone SHOULD put greed for an item, even if the spec associated with it doesn't want it.
Thanks for your time!
