However, I want to say that it feels very discouraging as a new player when a lack of knowledge about the game and its mechanics can turn into a situation like this. I rolled Need on the staff because I honestly believed it was an upgrade compared to my current axe. I did not do it with the intention of ninja looting or taking something valuable from someone else.
What makes it even more disappointing is that some players report situations like this even when they do not need the item themselves. Even if the staff were sold to a vendor, it would only be worth around 25 gold. It feels unfair when players use the rules specifically to get someone banned instead of simply explaining the mistake to a newer player.
Unfortunately, sometimes server rules can be used in a negative way to target or mock another player after they get banned, rather than helping them learn. I wonder if it could also make sense to consider the value or importance of an item when deciding punishments, since situations like this can happen purely because of inexperience.
That being said, I respect the rules and I understand them much better now. Thank you again for the clarification and the quick responses. I will definitely be more careful in the future and make sure something like this does not happen again.
