That's rude. He should have waited and said happy birthday at midnight exactly in our time because otherwise he's wishing you a happy birthday and it's meaningless because it's not even your birthday. That's what I did when my (ex) was in Canada.

There is a huge difference between UK and Canada, thats why it would be wrong, but UTC+1 to UTC+2 is hardly a crime.

I'm actually slightly worried about starting to drive, never seen the point considering I study in Cambridge where there is physically no room for any more cars unless you want to spend your life in traffic but I've gotta start learning at some point. More freedom, and a million more chances to get hopelessly lost.

You could say jump on the bus to somewhere like Bury St Edmonds and learn to drive there, it'll be quiet and I cant imagine the bus fare would be expensive.

I know if I was learning to drive and I still lived in Leicester I'd head out to Loughborough and learn there.
