This bug, tweak or whatever you'd like to call it is one of the reasons wpvp on Molten and now Warmane took a serious dive. I suppose most people first noticed this in Tanaris, at least on Deathwing since it was the most active pvp zone there. It pretty much went from an always active pvp zone to being a boring little town with a few people trying to get the members of the other faction to pull the guards and get run over. And nowadays there's nothing but sand there.
I think you have to realise that the circumstances then and now are not the same. So even if it was intended for the guards to be stronger or immune to cc, because you felt that any kind of city pvp should only be possible by big groups, it was a decision made with Molten's population which was twice as large as it is now. Now what you mostly have ARE the small pvp groups, and it is they that keep any kind of wpvp alive here. Sure ther are big city raids here and there, but they are too rare to even be worth the mention (and also being just one of the herd in a big zerg is really not as fun as going with a small group and holding a part of town for a while). So by all means, organise pvp events, chests or whatever, but also reconsider this decision if you want to have any kind of active wpvp.
Cities are ment to be safe havens, you go there when you want to recover, not for World PvP, the only reason you should be in enemy capitals is slaying enemy leader or getting into RFC or Stockades, cut the crap about you wanting some skirmish, you want to stealth in and slay the guy who is standing little to the side, away from the AH/bank/dueling area crowd, possibly alt tabing, and not you lvl. If you want PVP, battegrounds, arena, contested areas

The funnest game I ever played had very hard gate guards on every little town. What made it so fun is that anytime a superior raiding party came in, they HAD to get past the gate guards to come in so everyone joined in to help the gate guards (even up the battle). Very similar to how people all join in when the ogrimmar or stormwind boss gets attacked. Also then if someone wanted to flee or sit in a relatively safe area, they'd sit in the room with the gate guards. World PvP would be its funnest if all gate/town guards were bosses of varying toughness.
Contested area town guards are **** and spread out, a single 80 can clear Grom gol and sit in it for hours, bravely one shoting those 30s-40s. Some epic pvp m8. You have the goddamn forums, and guys like Protearan, arrange some raids, battles, kite a ****ing boss to capital, sneaking into a town to kill someoen who forgot to toggle pvp off is not world pvp, as much as your hurt butt wants it to be

As stated previously, the city guard thing is not new, and it is a remnant of the old developer team. Much like the custom change to Sacred Shield, which was reverted and fixed by the current development team.Quote:
