1. About the gold... Throw the newbies a bone

I'm super rich, and I have a guild bank full of mats and boes and other things, most profs, about 400k gold. I'm not super worried about the gold loss, I might just swallow it, or else start buying things to save my gold over the swap. So this isn't a complaint thread, I don't realllly care. BUT

I would suggest helping new players by removing some of the cheap gold sinks at low level. Right now there are a lot of beggers asking for gold for skills and mounts, and I give some out when I can because, there's literally no way for them to buy skills without taking significant time stopping leveling to farm. The gold squish will make this worse and when leveling twinks in dungeons I met tons of players who couldn't afford basic skills.

So my suggestion would be to remove the cost of class skills from levels 1-80. This isn't a meaningful amount of gold (maybe a few hundred gold once per level 80) but it will make the newbies who are already struggling have a lot easier time.

Again this doesn't effect me at all, this is just my observation. If you're going to lower gold amounts, which I'm fine with, remove some of the low cost gold sinks from early levels, class skills, early mounts, early prof costs, flightpoints, etc. Newbies will struggle otherwise and it will inhibit the long term health of the server.

  2. the game only makes sense with exp and gold rates in sync, nerfing gold rates will literally be like taking a crap on the levelers... and flood the capitals with "5 gold please for skills" which is going to be bad because people already abuse charity and make a lot of gold this way, with more legit beggars this will start being a proper profession in wow, gold begging

an easier alternative would be to 'give' the first char on a new account 300g when they level to 20... it's not enough to be abused by people (especially because of a level requirement) but it's something to the newbies that will help them cope with basic skills

  3. already u get ppl begging for gold because gold/xp rates are not equiv right now..
dno why they dont change things, new ppl feel like theyre already at a disadvantage if they dont donate... before even hitting 80!

  4. I'm not worried about something that will "affect" every player, meanwhile proffesion and reputation rates will (highly) ruin newcomers

  5. I'm not worried about something that will "affect" every player, meanwhile proffesion and reputation rates will (highly) ruin newcomers
thats the biggest loss it will be in new players coming in but warmane doesnt care since more of them will donate

  6. an easier alternative would be to 'give' the first char on a new account 300g when they level to 20... it's not enough to be abused by people (especially because of a level requirement) but it's something to the newbies that will help them cope with basic skills
Ok let me just lvl to 20, gain 300g. Mail it over, delete the character, repeat the process. Yeah it is enough to be abused with cause lvling to 20 is easy.

  7. If we give things for the newbies for free, how will they learn to survive in the game on their own? They literally beg in Dalaran sometimes, not to mention some really rude responses when you deny their wish.If they ask for help for killing an elite mob,ask for help because they get ganked, ask me to help in quests like The Hourglass of Eternity,i will help. But just giving them priviliges and free stuff will make them lazy.Running around in any major city and asking for gold for 30+ minutes, and SOMETIMES acting like i MUST give them gold because they're new players. No,i'm not obliged to work instead of them.I literally had nothing when i started playing on my old private server, clueless because i had a long hiatus from the game. Then, when they changed to cataclysm,i came here, with nothing.I re-acquired many things i had, then moltdown happened, then again i recovered. The will to work for something is the most important thing in the game,if you don't have that, you're not suited for WoW(or any mmo imo).Instead of googling and/or reading the forums as how their classes work, and how to level their character and professions, how to start earning money(doing 25 dailies on lvl 80 nets you around 2500g,add up the random dungeon rewards(+greens/blues/rarely epics even when vendored are a bit of g),and doing northrend loremaster nets you around 70-80k.On lower levels, before training anything, you read the tooltips and train those that you use for dps/heal first, then cc-s,finally other abilities that are mostly useless,or have very limited use.All i'm asking is to try at least before giving up and beg on the streets of cities.(lol, probably no newbie will read this :/)

  8. thats the biggest loss it will be in new players coming in but warmane doesnt care since more of them will donate
That is the whole thing...they are hoping it will make people donate for gold and professions. It won't...people are not gonna want to donate if they are being forced to do it.

  9. That is the whole thing...they are hoping it will make people donate for gold and professions. It won't...people are not gonna want to donate if they are being forced to do it.
I fully agree with this. But it will work of cause on people who enter WoW after the gold suish, and who are not aware that there was a squish. Especially because those players would enter a realm where everybody is well equipped and has much gold.

Another way for WarMane to get players more willing to donate could be to put more items on the market place which are wanted for transmogging, perhaps even items which are currently unavailable because of quests not working. I myself would gladly donate for the Vial of the Sands recipe, or for items such as Pants of the Naaru.

And please stop giving gold to beggars. It encourages them to harass other gamers. Money making is an integral part of WoW. If players are not in for that then WoW is not the game they should be in.

Here in MoP people wanna become 90 and full geared cheap and easy, and then pose for die hard gamers. They should have more of a gamers attitude: be happy to start at the bottom and take pride in their achievements, knowing that those really stand for something.

Don't beg guys. Instead ask Google how money making works. There should be excellent guides there!

  10. There is no reason that anything needs to be done concerning gold right now. As a new player with 0 gold on the server I found it super easy to make money with just selling things on the AH. I picked up skinning and mining and at level 58, before outland, I have over 800g. I had no problem buying skills, riding, bags, and bank slots as well as some quest items from the AH. If people are begging then they don't know how to make gold. The economy for low level items is pretty close to what I remember from the blizzard servers when WotLK came out.

Download Auctioneer or whatever addon you like and you barely do any work. Using auctioneer's appraisal tab I'm not even undercutting the lowest and my items are still selling like hotcakes.

  11. I agree with Knaxx. If people wanna learn more about money making they should read my post on the thread "Question about Professions" at this link:

The money is everywhere in WoW. All you need to do is go and pick it up!

I'm not worried about making gold, rather the greater separation of leveling, gold and rep. Once I hit 80, I could farm 1k gold/hr in mats and sell on AH... but that was once I hit 80. Getting there on my first toon was rough because I basically had to pick which skills I wanted to take, and which I could afford to put off until later. I had no real bags, no flying, etc... not because I was lazy, but because I leveled so fast, that I never had time to "make gold" while just leveling normally.

  13. idk if this is going to work im new to warmane and CATA so no i 2 lvl 70s and its crazy priced at the AH i wanted just 1 rough leather and it was 200 freaking gold for 1. at this rate i will have to have 1 alt per prof just to have my hard earned moneys. and i have never even begged once!

Here is the thing, you DON'T have to leave a zone when you out level it, if you do you lose out on gold while leveling.

  15. I'd be willing to bet that most of those gold beggars are just begging because they know some sucker will give them gold. For the few that actually need gold for skills, mount, etc, they need to learn how to manage their gold. I've leveled multiple characters and never had a gold problem. It's simple. Don't buy gear while leveling, sell everything you find (boe's, cloth, leather, ore, grey/white shoulder, etc), and do the quests that give gear instead of buying gear. That's literally all you need to do to not be poor.
