Technical e-mail activation

Hi, hopefully someone can help me, I've had an account on Warmane for a long while now, playing WoW on and off over the years, but recently when I came back I can never seem to login without needing an activation code that gets sent to my e-mail.
Nothing changed on my end from the previous times I've played without this happening, and it is annoying.
So maybe you can help me understand why this is happening at least if I can't stop it, idk.

No, it can't be turned off. It's now mandatory and there are no exceptions.
