Molten as a private server is amazing compared to the other private servers. I can't say the same about the forums though.
Now, regardless of what rules you set up, there will always be people that will treat Molten and the staff like trash. There is no way of avoiding that. But don't you just wish that you had some type of power that would destroy their computer? But let's talk about these "improvements".
If the majority of the community doesn't enjoy the changes and stops using the forum. Is the "improvement" that you set an actual improvement? Is taking a step back an improvement? What makes your view/opinion of these "improvements" superior to the communities? What is, "Molten as a whole" anyways? Is that just the staff?
But honestly, if you had enough, just quit or close down the forums. Welcome to the internet. The place where people will call you garbage, tell you to kill yourself and assume you're an overweight 40 year old that has yet to move out of his/her parents house due to your failure at life.
So having valid points on why an "improvement" is terribad with the support of the community has no chance of making a difference? I guess losing forum users, the people that keep this place alive, is much better than reverting back to when people enjoyed the forum and didn't see anything really wrong with it. Also, maturity is when you're willing to hear other people out and their ideas and try to compromise. Not just change **** and expect everyone to enjoy it and accept the change.
But hey, the communities views and opinions mean nothing so I guess suggesting ideas would be a huge waste of time. Therefore I don't see why we have the option to suggest ideas. By the way if anyone gets offended, I don't really care. I wasn't trying to offend anyone but I don't care if I did. I rather offend someone by telling the truth instead of lying and having them feel better.
At least then they'll know I'm honest c:
Sycrilla, I advise you not to create that thread. I would hate to see another member being banned because of this. I am fairly sure that everyone ~the Staff included~ already knows the public opinion and voicing it yet again would simply do no good for the general situation nor will improve anything. I am content to know that they acknowledged our hurts. Speaking of, is the delay timer reduced to 300 seconds? I will see to it :).
~
Lollerskatez, a beautiful lie of oft received with warmer hearts than an ugly truth. The Staff are not to blame for that; it simply is human nature. Although, and I mean no disrespect for that, the Staff should listen to the voice of the community. Not only the Moderators, but the Administration as well. After all, the community is what the server is. They are the heart, the bones, the muscles. They animate the server.... ~Protect and serve~ should be the general motto for people in charge with keeping order.
~
The server worked well since 2009 and although I am a new member, I think that I am smart enough to figure out things by myself. I like to believe that I speak in the name of every forum go-er when I say that a delay of more that 30 seconds ~which is the standard~ is not needed to prevent spam and advertising ~that, if the reasons behind these implementations were to fend off spammers and advertisers~. The Internet and the technologies have improved enough to keep these things at bay. I can offer a few options myself, and I am nowhere near as experienced as some of us here. No malign spammer and no advertiser would ever build up posts in order to continue on with his business ~I do not consider the usual members of the Spam section of being malign spammers that do anything remotely harmful for the Server. That would be an insult~.
~
I love this server and this forum equally. Some of us love the forum more than the server and those that do are the ones that contribute to the well being of the forum itself. The implementation of the delay times is hurting these people and surely, the great minds behind Molten could figure out a better way to fight spamming and advertising. It should be a Moderator's job, not a delay timer's job. More often that not, the spammers post one comment per account.

Let me close my rant by saying that should the Staff listen to the community and inform them about any changes, it would be a great step towards the better direction. There was no announcement regarding this major change and we ought to be enraged if the Government did any major changes without informing the population, am I right? You know how they say: There shan't be any enmity between the Government and the People.
Why, Obnoxious?
Why do you have zero tolerance for people showing where the staff has went wrong?
Why is it that, whenever the community on Molten agrees across the board that "X" would improve the forums, we're met with "The staff said no." -- yet when you want to implement something like this stupid-*** 1600s timer between posts, it's "justified and will benefit the forums as a whole?"
Well congratulations. If your goal was to completely kill the active population of forumers, you've done a damn fine job. Nobody wants to ****ing post anymore, and I don't think any of us can blame them. This bull**** timer has ruined the forums, more than any of the other rules you've implemented, more than Leona's off-topic "rules".
I honestly don't know how you all expected a forum to run when a member can only post once every twenty-six minutes and fourty seconds. You know, there are some of us, like Abra, Orphic, TheAxe and myself, that are active in almost every section on the forum. Yeah, well guess what. Now that I can't post worth ****, I've stopped posting in the Class forums -- I've stopped posting in the Q/A section -- I've stopped answering threads with a reason why things will, may not, or won't be implemented before any of the staff even has a chance to look at it.
If your goal was to reduce the work load on the moderators, you're doing a damn fine job. You may as well fire half your mods, as they'll have nothing to do from now on.
However, if your goal was to, with time, make the forums a cleaner, better place -- something that sits here collecting dust isn't 'clean'. You may as well just shut down the forums, to be completely honest. They're not doing any good anymore.
Your reference to "Molten as a whole" is pretty funny. Apparently, you completely disregard every player, member, etc. on the forums while making any decision. Apparently, "Molten as a whole" are a few staff members that don't actually enjoy their job, and would rather have nothing to moderate at all.
If you're tired of it, why not just close Off-Topic? I bet that'd please you, wouldn't it Obnoxious? Do you want to know why you're mocked here? I specifically remember a certain argument between the two of us, in which I was told to "be quiet, I'm old enough to be your father". Oh yeah, didn't you ask to compare pube count? Real "tasteful and respectful", Obnoxious -- I guess it's just another example of your "dgaf about forum members" attitude.
There is one staff member that I think of as a clown, Obnoxious, and it's you. The other have, and for good reasons, my respect. You, however, have proved time and time again that I have no reason to respect you as a superior, as a staff member, etc. In all honesty, you're probably like my father -- I'm forced to respect you, solely for your title.
Now on to your second point.
Let's sum it up real quick: "Your opinion does not matter to us."
Basically, if you actually wanted to make the forums better, you'd listen to the community, and not just make decisions on your own. The staff can't run a forum by themselves. If you thought for one second that you could completely disregard the entirety of the forums and still keep them successful, you are horribly mistaken. Hopefully you all will understand that soon.
I'm at school now, so I don't have time to say much more. If you, Obnoxious, or any of the other staff has a problem with me and this post, I'd love to hear them. Please tell me we're wrong about this.
Just to add, the community wouldn't be in such an uproar if the changes were said beforehand to begin with. Just read what Fiery posted and it MIGHT help in finding a better way to deal with spammers instead of pissing off the people who still post here.
A 5 minute timer between posts is not a good idea, might as well remove off-topic/ spam section because it's dead the moment the 1600 sec timer between posts got implemented.
Thanks for that post Shiina. It was beautiful. I honestly don't see how such A STUPID decision could be made, and like Iridia + Fiery said, with no warning whatsoever.
You know, America didn't give Japan prior warning about the atomic bomb, because they thought if they tried to show it in a test explosion, and it didn't work, then they would look bad.
Well guess what? You didn't give us prior warning, you tried to drop this bomb of forum death on us, and now, guess who looks bad.
@Iridia, even the 5 minute timer is too much, although it doesn't seem to matter in my case, as EVERY TIME I POST I get:
This forum requires that you wait 1600 seconds between posts. Please try again in 1061 seconds.
YES, yes this WAS after the 5 minute rule was implemented, although you seemed to skip me.
I'd already told the mods I approve of and know (and in a respectful way), my feelings about this change, and the response was "too much spam, no we won't get rid of it".
....WHAT SPAM? The only thread that's even been remotely spammed is the section NAMED Spam and Game Central. The only exclusion I could think of was the Guild war thread in Community creations (Gatecrashers vs. whatever)...but you had the power to close it whenever you wanted.
I'm sure you've seen all the goodbye threads and posts, some made by the MOST helpful people, and I'm interested to know how you're feeling regarding that. The decision really sounds like someone wanted to kill the forums. I'd like to hope it was a late April Fool's day joke, but it's just too late for that.
Whatever. Have fun sitting around all day doing nothing mads.
They choose to let these threads go on, and then complain about the spam in them. Sorry, but that's just lazy Moderating. If you have a problem sith a thread, say so -- don't be that passive-aggressive fool that sits back and complains about something without actually doing anything about it.
As for Off-Topic, this is our place to sit back and talk to each other without having to watch every other word we say. If you don't want spam, why the **** woul you have a SPAM and Game Central subforum? "Let's complain about all the spam, and give people a place to spam."
You guys ever wonder why they want to cut down on "spam"?
I think there's some reason for it;
example:
maybe they're using up a lot of data... and need to conserve memory.
They simply need a more comprehensive rule and explanation for what's going on.
Yeah ok, clean the database. Threads that haven't had posts for 3-4 months = delete. Next objection?
Even if that WAS the case (which I *highly* doubt it is), why not just TELL us? Why not just say, "We're decreasing forum usage for a few days."? None of us would have a problem with that.
I wouldn't even mind the mods saying "We're shutting the forums down for a month". At least we'd KNOW what was happening, and not just be thrown into some unknown environment.
We're not children. You don't have to keep the truth from us. If you have a problem with us, tell us. If you have a problem with our posts, tell us. Don't just ruin the forums because you believe we're too inmature to be told the truth.
I've been around here as long as Loller, and I've seen Molten make some strange decisions (good ones too) but nothing like this. I'm with any kind of plan/suggestion against this rule.
~DutchGrinder, used this account because hurr durr timer.
I just ordered my FIRST mouse pad.
Spoiler:Show
The forums used to be *fun*.
I bet nobody would believe that anymore.
