You do not necessarily fast for one day to lose weight. If one needs to lose weight, doing any kind of activity or sport will fare much better results. It is like saying that you only read for school. Sure, it may help, but it has many more uses and benefits.
I usually find myself feeling so much better after a 24-hour fast :). You should try it once.
