Runic Corruption procs for like 4s max. WOOPDIDO.
Sorry but haste bugging FKDs last patch had more permenantly. I get it for 4s.
UH atm is bugged, and if it was fixed I would go troll so hard cos atm its rape, and when it's actually doing the coreect damage, amma rape more.
Red = Strength
Yellow = Resilience
Blue = Spell Pen (to 200)
i dont need purple gem on blue? with 20 hit and 20 resilenc an ai dont need on yellow 40 mastery gem? and i set on my relic 40 strenght is that good?
No, you need 50 spell pens in each of your blue sockets, plus one prismatic socket (belt/relic, or bracers/hands if you have BS).
Reds should be straight 40 str, Yellows should either be 40 resil, 20str/20resil, or 40 mastery (if you're geared enough and don't have any resil issues). Wouldn't run mastery gems until I had ~4.2k resil without gems.
Well damn. I had never noticed this guide. My bad.
Just going to add a few things since Sycrilla already said most of it. I'm assuming no one else has posted them because they're not in the guide.
Frost is certainly not harder than before. The lovely permanent frost runes give us clean, simple and hard hitting mechanics. Great for pvp because they allow faster responses for almost any situation. This should be noted.
Diseases are no longer as important as they were. Frost fever is the only one worth applying because of the lovely debuff, but since obliterate is going to be used less and less, bothering with plague strike is no longer needed. EXCEPT in one case which I'll talk about next.
Like mentioned before, obliterate should NOT be taken off your bars completely (specially not if you're a beginner). I know this is talked about a lot in retail guides but you must keep in mind that those guides were written for people already geared with ruthless and aiming for cataclysmic. Remember that, even with the Oblit damage nerf and the Howling blast/frost strike buff, Obliterate still hits harder by default. This means that you should still use obliterate, spec into annihilation, use outbreak/plague strike when needed and glyph the skill as long as your mastery hasn't reached a decent number because it WILL hit harder. I would say until you're at least full vicious reforged to mastery. This is VERY important. And even then. After you switch to the Howling Blast/Necrotic Strike/Frost Strike priority, you should keep it in your reach because a Killing Machine obliterate will always be incredibly powerful against clothies.
Also, I would like to add a small tip. Most of the beginner Death knights tend to use AMS as soon as they engage combat to avoid CC's or debuffs. While this is good, you should consider saving it if you're against a class able to silence. That way, using AMS and then hungering cold will prevent you from being silenced and thus spell locked. This can be a life saver in arenas.
That's all I have to say for now, it's a pretty complete guide all in all. Good job and cheers.
EDIT: I'll post the obliterate included beginner spec later today when I get home if you want.
AMS has only 45 seconds CD, i better use it at the beginning and not get CC chained, so i can land my NS asap.
Glyph of Deaths Embrace? Seriously? Its of no use for Frost DK. Thats Unholy-only. It used to refund 20 RP on 4.0.6. On 4.3.4 refunds RP only if the healed target is a minion (your ghoul or other, not sure if it works on Lock pets as they are demons).
You better replace that glyph with Resilient Grip.
You talk a lot about survivability, if i was on your place i would change the talent points from Bladed Armor to Morbidity, which will also increase the healing of DC with 15%.
As what i see, your build is about Masterfrost build, not a Regular Frost(which is played with Obliterate).
Why would you improve Frost Presence when you are fighting in Unholy Presence? 4% runic power generation is just pathetic. (calculate it if you dont believe me. CoI gives you 30rp per use, that means you will get extra 4 runic power for every 4 CoI. Worth it? I dont think so)
Masterfrost DK is played in Frost Presence and thats the reason why you improve it.
There are more things to say, but im pretty sure you already assume i am some sort of hater, so i wont waste my time.
JK get one shotted by mage rogue/ mage priest after that 6sec of pressure.
It's bugged, gives 20 rp back when used to heal urself. The hotfix for 4.0.6a for retail hasn't been applied in molten yet.
Increasing your necrotic strike absorb by a pretty high amount, it's not worth the exchange.
In what else? Obliterate is useless as to the patch 4.3.4. She just figured out that something>nothing.
No, it's not. Pvp is always played with unholy presence no matter what spec you are.
Ps: I fixed your last sentence:
You do have a point. There are moments in which obliterate does come handy. However, this only in a couple situations. Such as when you are going for the kill and your opponent pops ams with only 10k hp. That's when that obliterate would come handy. Or when a lock puts his shield which absobs an amount of spell damage. Which also makes obliterate very handy in such moments.
Whoa, whoa. Masterfrost in Frost Presence is a NO GO. The run speed and haste increase are WAY more valuable to be replaced. I could explain but this is obvious since it's basic knowledge.
Why improve frost presence? Simply because you need to reach 31 points in frost and if you're using a 2h masterfrost build, annihilation is not worth it and nerves of cold steel/threat of thassarian are useless. Rather have an small increase in runic power gain than nothing.
Third of all, in pvp, popping your defensive cooldowns too early is a very bad idea. Only if you know you're going to get a huge burst should you use AMS quickly. There are trinkets to get you out of those rough situations. Knowing when to use the skill is crucial and I will rather land a CC and tear down the partner, or, if in a bg, give myself enough time to control the situation is so much better than wasting it. Also, your opponents are not stupid. If they see you AMS-ing right at the start they'll wait until you're exposed to CC you lol.
Appart from that, nothing else to say.
For toshika: Something that came up to my mind while writing this.. You should specify that this is a 2h masterfrost guide and not simply a frost pvp guide because there are at least four combinations for frost.
-Regular DW Frost
-DW Masterfrost
-2h Masterfrost
-Regular 2h Frost
Obviously there are prefered ones but you should always be specific when you want to write a guide.
To finish, thanks Ceironn for completing what I meant with keeping obliterate in your bars. Those are the most relevant cases.
