    Such Little Amount of Tanks

I was just wondering why there were such little amount of Tanks on this server which are 85? I noticed that a lot of people are looking for them. The least amount out of any class and can't seem to find any..Or without waiting for a minimum of 30 minutes anyway. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong but if we exclude friends, guild members and all the other stuff then Tanks are hard to find. If you're a random that has everything he needs to start his random dungeon for JP points you're going to have a hard time waiting for a tank to show up and start it up. Now some of you might say "Why not just farm honor and exchange for Justice Points?" - Well yes that is a possibility and a good point, however if people wanted to do that I think they would have made a party that's based for BG and not seek people for RDF in Global chat.

Anyways, I'm not trying to steer the pot here or start a fire, I was just wondering how a server that has over 2500 + people every day seems to be lacking tanks the most? (A thorough explanation would suffice)

    Thanks.

  2. Tanks have always been a problem it is not exclusive to Molten, even on retail with a much higher population tanks are still a rare commodity along with healers (that's why to encourage it Blizzard implemented the Call to Arms loot). As for why it is not a popular class you can simply ask yourself for the reasons why you would roll a DPS class over either support class, and I disagree that it is because battlegrounds are an easier place to farm points so DPS is more apt.

Reasons are numerous one of the main ones being that tanking is difficult, you have more mechanics to remember, requires more awareness and knowledge, positioning, and not as much room for error. Another popular one I find is that people just like having the highest numbers and DPS provides that and competitiveness. I could go on but point I do not find the lack of tanks to be such a mystery given what the role requires and entails.

  3. On alliance in my guild there are 5 tanks and we only have a core raid group. fo half our raid group are geared tanks. I myself own 4 tanks across sarg.

It's not the lack of tanks, it's the lack of tanks who know what they are doing.. Like full on stam stacking tanks piss me off. Every tanks main stat is Mastery whether they be Warr/Pala (block rating) or DK/Druid (Absorb shield).

Or they turn up in mostly PvP gear, if Im on my healer it just frustrates me, I shouldn't have to teach them their bloody class which Im busy OOMing my *** cos they don't quite get how to prioritise stats, bumped into a strength and crit stacking DK.. Even as DPS you would never stack crit.

so it's not the Lack of them it's the lack of quality.

Toshika, IF you know what you're talking about and you're not lying or trying to look cool, then go educate those people on how to play tanks properly instead of stamina stacking. Teaching people how to play the game properly is nothing but a good thing. If they laugh at you, ignore you, tell you to shut up or insult you then just ignore than and in time those *****s will realize that you were right.

I would the arrogance of some of them make me not say anything anymore and just leave. It's like talking to braindead children. I've cleared all current content on all my tanks, and I'm always MT (Unless its my pala, she's MS ret.) All my toons are at or close to CTC as per their class.

Quite a few people have thanked me for helping them, but the vast majority just tell me to "stfu cos your not tanking"...

Toshika, You got any horde characters on Sargeras? I could use some help, if not, that's okay.

I play many tanks.....I love them all, and have logged likely more hours watching game footage to master my craft than the average dps has logged playing. However, sadly it's a thankless role; especially on Sargeras. Tanking is so utterly easy on cata it's difficulty ranks up there with the arcane mage, with vengence and your threat boosting stance/aura/presence there are only a small number of instances where you could/might lose aggro. The problem with tanking is you're the whipping boy, no matter who screws up, you're at fault. For example, In a perfect world the tank pulls a pack of trash mobs, gathers them up in a nice death ball, and the dps aoe's them to oblivion. In reality, the tank pulls a pack (If he gets there before the dps pulls them) and while they are trying to make that nice little death ball, each dps picks a random mob and nukes the crap out of it hoping for big numbers on recount. Remember when I said there are only a small number of instances where you can lose aggro? The pull is one of them. What ensues, we've all seen before; mobs scatter, god forbid one of your dps is a hunter he does that jump backwards thing that's in the first paragraph of the huntard handbook right beside the rule that says you should always try to time your arrow shots to occur while jumping. the Healer goes bat**** trying to keep everyone up and the poor tank is wishing his group bought keyboards without the n, o and b keys. Who's at fault for that fiasco? Everyone says the tank "tank, y u no hold aggro?" Sadly the truth is he was screwed from the beginning. People don't follow their tanks lead, and then they blame him when things go awry. You wonder why there's a tank shortage? Ask yourself why would anyone want to put up with that kind of crap day in and day out when they can just roll dps and point fingers when **** goes south.

That being said, Writing this has inspired me to dust off my shield and give Sargeras my afternoon. Unfortuanately, since I have no achievements, it'll be yet another day of Stonecore only tank gogogo.

    Cheers Galvon Horde

  10. The best advice I can give you is to level one if you can't find any...its like THE MOST FUN out of all the roles. As I stand right now 6/7 of the guys I usually do my PvE
with can tank...heck I have a prot offspec too. Atleast I'm not feeling any lack =P

    Made me LOL! :D

and there is obviously a statistical reason behind this which is that out of the 10 classes there are only 4 that can tank. only 40% chance that people will roll those classes and then 33% chance they will pic the tanking spec lol

Do you know how much of a pain in the *** it is to teach people how to play this game? And when you do they just turn around and abandon you. I would be happy to teach people but I wont do it for nothing, as I play this game to have fun and teaching newbies takes time away from having fun, then afterwards all I would expect people to do is run a dungeon or 2 with me, they just tell me to go **** myself. I've helped people farm pos and gem up their tanks just to get stabbed in the back. I understand where Toshika is coming from, I've lost all respect for the molten community because of it, haven't COMPLETELY given up though I'm getting close. So
I don't bother helping people anymore.

  13. We monopolized all of the tanks on Alliance side, our bad.

The reason every server will lack tanks is because it is the most annoying job in the world to have to tank for *****s, or the ***** is the tank and has no idea what he is doing.

I love tanking, and a guy in my guild loves tanking and has every tank class available. Crazy stuff but you will only find tanks who love to do it.

Guys I need your help when it comes to building up my Prot Warrior (speaking in terms of gear).

As you can see I want to get the Tank Molten Giant set but I can only get 3 pieces from Justice Points...Now since this is really good 378iLvL gear, It's the best that I can find, however I can't get ALL of it because the rest requires a helm or mantle from the fiery protector, now I want to get these but I don't know how AND I WANT to use Coins as a LAST choice.

    Any ideas?
