1. I did.

    Master Yi...he touched me. ;_;
    dem yi pentakills :x

  2. Well, I could deny this because I'm a dota player. (classic)
    That only makes it worse.

Is it okay if I play LoL and then say it's bad? :p
It's fine so long as your reason isn't DotA fanboyism. I don't like either of these games... though I still find myself playing them.

    dem yi pentakills :x
Especially in ARAM. Yet, Yi has no Pentakill skin. Curious.

I almost got a pentakill as aatrox once. But nope, i somehow managed a triple kill and then a double kill.

  4. I don't like either of these games... though I still find myself playing them.
Them? Don't tell me you are implying that you play dota at times.

  5. I haven't in a while, but I do once in a while. I don't play LoL a whole lot either, but I still do.

  6. I once missed out on a pentakill by possibly the closest margin ever.

I was playing pre-rework Kat, got a quadra, saw my 5th target, shunpo'ed in and ulted. In case you weren't around at the time, pre-rework Kat ult did a lot more damage than it does now.

My team backs off to let me get the penta, and while I'm ulting, the enemy player dies.

    From my teammate's red buff.

    ._.

I almost got a Quadra with Ahri but my support stole the 4th kill.

  8. So a friend made me premium last night

    Well.

I just don't like how it's a tad bit too forgiving. Yeah, it may appeal to the casual crowd. And I'm not trying to insult anyone by saying that. I understand that many people don't enjoy starting off in a game, dying once in your lane and then by the time you get back in your lane, you're a few levels behind and you lost A LOT of gold.

The heroes of LoL just seem boring. Each hero in Dota can be used in multiple of ways but they all have their own specialty. They're all incredibly useful and not a single hero is trash.

I enjoy being forced to really plan my attacks out since they usually cost a lot of mana and I can't just **** around with my skills like I can in Smite. The skills in Dota are more effective but they cost a lot more compared to other MOBA's such as Smite and LoL. Oh, you happened to miss that skill once? Sucks for you, you're out of mana. Oh, you landed that skill? Good work, you didn't kill him but you forced him to back the **** off which is letting you deny your creeps and last hit the enemy creeps without worrying about him for a few seconds.

The way I see it. If people want a more complex game and if they're willing to learn. Go for Dota.

If people want a laid back game where it's a little more casual friendly and less punishing. Go for LoL.

I'm also happy to see that Marazhu is playing Dota. Soon, he'll be the most unstoppable support player EVUR. He'll be an R1 KOTL player. Five Divine Rapiers and one Shadow Blade.

For ****s sake i almost got a quadra again today.

And then the feeding platinum draven on my team stole the 4th kill.

  11. A few months ago, I took some time away from LoL and tried out DotA and Dawngate instead. DotA seemed to have more depth and I like Valve so I had some motivation to really give it an honest try and attempt to like it.

In the end though, it only served to make me appreciate some of the things that are easy to underappreciate in LoL. The visual art style in LoL may be more cartoony but also makes it a lot easier to know exactly what's going on at any given moment. DotA's more realistic visual direction made the opposite true, which was a significant downside.

There also seemed to be a lot of artificial difficulty in DotA - the courier, the town portal scroll, and the secret shop were all a source of annoyance more than they were a source of additional enjoyment. I felt like they got in the way of enjoying myself instead of contributing to the fun. I'm sure they add fun for some players and they certainly add new dimensions to the gameplay, but I wanted to focus on destroying their heroes and towers rather than get caught up in what felt like a bothersome yet necessary minigame.

I did enjoy some DotA-specific features though, notably being able to deny and the day-night mechanic.

Obviously, I won't argue LoL isn't easier to play than DotA, because that wouldn't be true. But I didn't feel like the added difficulty in DotA was actually worth anything. For me, the cost outweighed the rewards. That being said I understand why someone might not feel that way.

But there was something missing: skillshots. Maybe I didn't try enough DotA heroes (I tried about a dozen), but most of them didn't have a single skillshot and those that did were easy to land. This was a clear downside to me. I never realized how much I enjoyed skillshots in LoL until I tried DotA.

LoL also has rune pages, which some players may understandably dislike, but which I personally enjoy for the same reasons I enjoy building decks in Hearthstone and gemming/enchanting my Druid to perfection - I'll always welcome a bit of metagame preparation.

From a balance perspective, I can't really comment on DotA, but given what I know of Valve and what I know of Riot, I imagine that DotA is probably better-balanced, which is one of the reasons I wanted to try it.

  12. You are being really fair and your points are understandable aswell. I played Smite quite actively, which is basicly LoL from a 3rd person perspective. It was really fun when you started getting into it, because you had to learn the basics. Once you managed to learn that, it started to feel empty. There was no depth at all and very little challenge.

For me LoL seems very slow with it's gameplay. Dota isn't a very fast game either, but it doesn't feel as slow, I enjoyed HoN the most when it comes to that. I'm also not a big fan of the art direction that LoL has, it's just a little too much for me.

I can tell you that people do not have an issue with someone enjoying LoL more. The issue for me starts when they try to justify it with insane statements, such as "not being able to deny takes more skill!". People claiming that a dota 2 hero is based on a LoL hero, while the hero is a direct port from dota 1.

A big issue with dota is that it's very hard to get into. I started 10 years ago, when basicly everyone was aweful. But now that has changed quite a bit, it's pretty brutal to be a new player which is why I try to give advices to new people. Which is something that LoL does better, imo. That it doesn't have creep pulling, deny, couriers, TPs, secret shops, etc is a big benefit for a new player. That those elements are missing will let them focus on other aspects of the game, learning last hitting, learning hero abilities and so on.

If something doesn't make sense, sorry about it but I'm already half asleep.
