Actors being paid to participate in video game content is a fairly common thing these days.
James Earl Jones, Michael Ironside and Grace Park in Command and Conquer, for example.
Or Tricia Helfer being the voice of Sarah Kerrigan in Starcraft II and Heroes of the Storm.
I'm a quake fanboy, don't judge me. (I love UT too)
If you don't get enjoyment out of a game because of some people being dip****s then it's not really the games fault. People also barely ever use VOIP in dota, can't judge LoL, never played it. The reason people raged so much in dota 2 was because every game would influence your MMR, but now with the introduction of fun modes (ability draft) that has changed. The community isn't even as toxic as you make it out to be, you didn't play the game much so I'm not sure why you judge the community based on that. It's easy to collect 9 people for an inhouse game in dota or LoL, but this is only an option if you actually enjoy playing the game. There's so many options that the community is just an excuse to not play in the end. This isn't even me fanboying the game, I haven't played since january, or october if we talk about rated games. I might not play LoL, but I'm still confident that all those things apply to LoL aswell. No, I don't have to, and I shouldn't have to. It's pathetic to think that I should have to grow a thick skin in order to get any sort of enjoyment out of a game. A BG on wow is different in the way that first, I don't have kids screaming at me over a built-in voip that for some reason is by default turned on, I am never the one that gets *****ed at because I know what I'm doing and I'm damn good at it, and the chat box doesn't take up 1/4 of the screen. This isn't even to say that people on WoW most of the time aren't half as bad as the toxic ****s on these two games.
When a game is built around pvp, the community becomes part of the game. Also, why should I have to go out of my way to find decent people in order to play a game that is built around a much larger group of people? Not that I know enough people to regularly fill a game when I feel like playing one anyway.
Good thing you're not a woman, eh.
I don't follow, are you relating to pain of giving life?
See it like pugs in WoW, theres good ones and bad ones. You don't have to go out of your way at all, you just have to be willing to look. I remember Myrrh wanted to try dota before, I doubt that he would mind learning the game together. Certain modes don't even need 10 people, the wraith night was really fun and required only 5. Which is why I said that bad experiences shouldn't stop you from enjoying a game. If you don't recieve enough enjoyment out of something to be willing to look for options, understandable because I wouldn't do that either. But if you actually enjoy something then there's always options that don't even require any kind of effort.
That too, but I was also referring to that women in general have migraines far more often than men. But since you mention that, I guess I could also include the monthly bleeding and feeling like my gut has been put in a vice.
League and DotA do not have guilds, to my knowledge. If they do, they are obviously not easily accessible. Finding a guild on WoW consists of watching trade chat, and that will get me all the raiding or organized pvp I could want.
Also, how do I develop an enjoyment for something when my initial encounter with it is horrible? For what reason would I be motivated enough to look past that? I can't say "OH MAN I LOVE THIS GAME! I'm going to find away to avoid these losers!" when my only experience with it is someone yelling in my ear about how bad and a piece of **** I am.
Well, next time don't pick apples when told not to. =/
If only it were that easy.
Challenge accepted. I have them for 7 days a week, and 5 times a month. It's becoming a surprise when I wake up without it (without any pain at all), but I'm used to it.
Dota has a team and coaching system, the team size might not be equal to a guilds size cap, but atleast it's there. If you look for a guild on trade chat then you probably are in for a lot of ****.
Why do you allow someone to ruin your experience like that? Pick up 4 friends, have a fun day together and build an opinion based on that. You aren't actually judging the game, you formed an opinion on a game because of 1 guy, who was a complete *****. I doubt you would let that happen in WoW, so I'm not sure why you allow it to happen in other games. Also, how do I develop an enjoyment for something when my initial encounter with it is horrible?
