I have seen a few of my IRL friends sit next to each other and text, was a little scary tbh. I personally dont use FB, I mainly use skype to talk to others. I believe my smartphone habbits reflect pretty well there. I prefer to have skype calls instead of chats, just as much as I prefer to have a phonecall instead of sending an SMS. Its a lot more fun to actually talk with people, since happiness and fun can be shown a lot easier.

I know what you mean. I almost never text. I prefer to simply call someone and only if I have to. I still prefer face to face talk with friends rather than sitting and texting. I think it is slowly killing our humanity and our sense of friendship. You don't see people talking to each other out of fear of appearing insane. These days you can only talk to someone if you're acquaintances which is rather sad. Even sadder when you walk the street and see everyone with their faces in their phone screens.

I use my phone to text and Skype people when I cannot meet them or call them. I don't use it when I'm literally next to them or within walking distance.

This makes me laugh though, 'cause I started thinking about last Friday in Spanish class when our teacher had us read an article about selfies and social media addiction. The resident feminist didn't answer any of the questions and instead wrote a long-winded paper about the 'social and cultural parameters set by the article, the misogynistic feel of the article, and the double-standard set by it'. I can't wait to see the teacher's reaction.

I text so much. Only a few people can call me and actually talk to me. Everyone else better just text me unless if it's urgent. I now send roughly 15k text messages a month. I used to text 20-25k.

Texting is just so convenient.
