    I'm a little surprised they didn't.

  8. "30 is the first "scary" birthday.
As a kid, every birthday is exciting and cool. You have no real concept of getting older. It's a "good" thing in your mind.
You become a teenager and then you get the milestone birthdays.
    16 you can drive.
18 you're an "adult" and can buy some smokes and lottery tickets.
At 21 you can drink legally and go out to the bars.
And for those next few years your birthdays are just fun. You go out with your friends and they all get you drunk.
    But then all of a sudden you're 26. You're closer to 30 than 20.
Your birthday is no longer a "Facebook Event" you invite everyone to. There's not 20 people at the bar with you getting hammered and dancing.
There's only four or five of you sitting in your living room. Everyone else has to work, or is tired, or needs to stay home with the baby. It's 11pm at night and nobody is past their 3rd beer but the first person is already saying it's late and they should get going.
That is the first moment in your life when you sit there, staring at the wall with your beer in hand and think....I'm getting old."
    **** you and your rules.
Don't tell me how to live my life.

    I'm going to live forever.

Really? You're 20. Why are you talking about 30th birthdays? The situation is probably different for everyone, and it's one you haven't even experienced.
