1. My story [Old Screenshots Included]

    Published: Nov 2014

Reason for writing this story is that I want to see how story will look like written chronologically combined with photos.

6 years and 8 months ago... March 2008...

It was winter time. Freezing cold and snowy. Friends from school suggested game we may play together. I have recently got 512 KB/s internet connection so I was able to try online game.
On 15th of March 2008 I was my first char, Rogue. They said I can be invisible, I can run away if I want, I can attack when and how I want. I liked that.
One friend picked mage, second warrior and druid, third was priest, and I was rogue.

My first screenshot ever I don't remember what I was taking picture of, I guess it was portals or I pressed key by mistake...
    Spoiler: Show

Notice resolution 800x600 and that TBC graphics :)

It was so cool to sneak around enemies... I always wanted to be invisible, to see how it is...
    Spoiler: Show

Then I realized how much stealth is going to make leveling easier, I will avoid death many times... Encountering strange mob in Darkshire...

    Spoiler: Show

Leveling was slowly since I had no idea where to go, I didn't even knew that gray quests do not give xp... on 61st lvl , guy I was leveling with, told me that there is portal and there are new areas for leveling but he couldnt enter, so he showed me portal...

    Spoiler: Show

... and asked me what do I see... my first view on outland, it was like I was in space, 4th dimension...

    Spoiler: Show

I continued my leveling in this amazing areas... which were a lot more hostile ones...

I was first one who hit level 70.

    Spoiler: Show

I was glad I finished with missions. Then friend told me that now I can do raids. And I did. I did played video games on PC before WoW, but nothing was like this. 25 people working like a clock to kill 1000 times stronger enemy.

First raid was the hardest one. The Black Temple.

    Spoiler: Show

And then, blind and deadly. Illidan Stormrage. I was thrilled to stand near to him and stare at him.

    Spoiler: Show

Months were passing by, I was doing BT, hyjal, karazhan, and from time to time, Tempest Keep,

    Spoiler: Show

oh man... that adrenaline for ashes of al ar, with no vote points, vote shops, and hours to clean way to boss... and then that tiny chance to even see rare mount drop... but no luck... yet.

Time to be nostalgic... does anyone recognize old AH? with entrance from another side? :)

    Spoiler: Show

First sign I was becoming hardcore player is when after 17hrs of playing WoW that day, I joined Hyjal raid...

    Spoiler: Show

and then, I actually got dagger

    Spoiler: Show

This is what Zul Aman used to be sometime in TBC...

    Spoiler: Show

Horde gathering in cathedral ... they probably gather here since vanilla :) in tbc times you didnt had sw harbor or flying... think on that

    Spoiler: Show

You all heard for corrupted ash bringer. But, have you seen cleansed ashbringer? It cannot be found on wowhead.com anymore, because its removed from game. Google it and you may find some old site with item. :) Also images of white sword are rare :)

    Spoiler: Show

Then I got bored and decided to try another class, something different, I picked hunter. Hunters were using quivers then, with bullets or arrows... always checking to have enough ammo before raid :D

And then, it dropped while I was on hunter... I kinda abandoned my rogue so I wasnt too sad for it droping while I wasnt on rogue.

    Spoiler: Show

and some random moment when warglaive + spell enchant pop up..

    Spoiler: Show

or item that isnt legendary but have become legend... Martins Fury. Google it. Its removed from game.

    Spoiler: Show

After doing all raids getting gear, I got bored, again, I picked totally different class. Protection Paladin. It was tough as rock, nobody coudn't kill me.
And now I see coincidence that I made Demmentor in 2008, and Dementorion in 2010, both same name and both paladins and both tanks... between those 2 chars I was playing warlock for a looong time...

On the new years evening, horde came infront of my homecity, Exodar, and we had a party...

    Spoiler: Show

Once again, the same thing, tanked Tempest Keep, karazhan... got ashes of al ar and decided to move to another char but this time it was harder, I had ashes of al ar and I really liked it. I still like it.

11 months since I started playing WoW I decided to level warlock. Warlock in TBC was a killer. At least I knew to use him better than other classes I tried so far.

    Dueling results
    Spoiler: Show

I even used addon to say where I am and where I killed horde so they come and chase me...
    Spoiler: Show

Soon after that, my first server got upgraded to wotlk, and got sued by blizzard and got closed.

I got dissapointed by fact how we are forced to throw away old gear, and somehow I didnt liked the fact that now one warlock is going to have 20k hp, and that was a hp of a TBC end game geared tank.

I did played on Basiliskos warlock but nothing serious, I was more of explorer than raider or pvp-er...

On 16th of Feb 2012, I came to molten, because of Cataclysm opening. When I was choosing class, I had a vision...
I remembered how tough was paladin when I was tanking...

I wanted to have one main char...
I wanted to be able to join any raid or any guild...
    I wanted to be respected...
    I wanted to be recognized...
I wanted to be desired in raid/guild...
    I wanted to be tank.

    Spoiler: Show

I got what I could on AH and started tanking... in beginning it was hard, I didnt knew that I need to move mobs in HoO from healing circles, I didnt knew many things, people yelled at me people were telling rude things to me, I wanted to quit tanking... but then I actually saw that I never make the same mistake twice... it is responsible job but I could handle the pressure... had luck to find people/guild who were willing to share advices via teamspeak...

Now I have 392 ilvl tank, with 359ilvl shield, which I am using since I was 320ilvl when I got to lvl85.

    Now I have 4/4 BoT , 7/7 FL, 8/8 DS, 5700 achi points (cata only), 136 mounts, 155 companions...
    Now I am respected tank,
Now I am recognized, (not by whole server ofc)
Now I am desired to be in raid/guild.
    Now I am tank.

I also have Orionskyhunt Hunter, Basiliskos Warlock, and since recently Katablepo druid, on which I am playing when I get bored, but Dementorion is main. No more changing mains like in past.
I had one druid in TBC but I never used him or healed with him... kinda sad.

Since start I had need to write tutorials about this complicated games... was writing them on all servers I played in past, and here are molten ones

You can find my most popular guides here:

In the end, i have total of 153d 4h = 3676h time played on all chars, all expansions, all servers.

And you have read my story all to the end, I have one question for you...

    Spoiler: Show
    ... what's your story?

  2. hello i just wanted to say thank you very much for making this thread. I read all of it and it was really neat, made me miss some really good old times iv had. Iv been playing WoW since the release and i stuck on a rogue down the road as a main then went to a mage in TBC. But always loved both. Your guides are great btw!

  3. *cry* i miss my wotlk hunter and those times when i was leveling late at night in darkshire and spiders scares the crap out of me when they aggro....hmmm..

Can u imagine how much this opening of Hyjal means to me, and to all oldschool players...
first time i have enter hyjal here, i saw npc, and I still remember it is JC vendor... dude 5 years ago... a child for 5 years go from baby to walking and talking...

friend who was with me, enjoyed also, he said something like "damn, this old TBC raid smell"

explanation to newbies, it is "just" an instance, this is what u will remember as Dragon soul, or firelands, in when warlords expansion comes to private servers, in couple years from now,
but its a place where u spent countless hours of grouping for raid,
in TBC expansion when there was no flying mounts in kalimdor or e.kingdoms,
in TBC expansion where Raid Finder didnt worked,
it was years ago, and we still play this game, on new molten mains,
we had to change servers coz many private servers died,
in hyjal i remember how frost wyrms were wipe phase near thrall...
in hyjal, i still remember that wooden tree i was sitting for hours to group up for archimond

i know there are tbc stuff on wotlk, or on other even 2.4.3 tbc servers, but never wanted to go there,

memories, nostalgia... just to think, to have chance to do old stuff again, on this server, this realm, this main molten-wow character...

the day I enter black temple on my cata main char here on molten, will be tha best day in my wow career!
and i will give donation to support molten developers , this is public promise! :D

wtb faster raid ID reset on TBC stuff so i can run it again and again and again

  5. I also used to play on Scapes' wowcrack(not advertisement, its dead). No raid locks, boss drop almost all items in loot table. You can get invited in Raids even in green gear(people dont care) Warglaives are common thing, You can bug Illidan and make the encounter easy. Hordes assemble in raid entrance. GMs morphing players to Illidan. are you familiar with the name: Magiclike? and ofc the guild Teppop,

I also played on crack, ally...

Yea I remember Magiclike... TBC had 61 talent points, if u make mage with right combination, it 2shoot people around like chickens... top dps in arenas bg's and raids... in the end he was banned with whole raid for 1 or 2 years for participating in bugged SWP raid...

    he was legend lol :D

i used to go near BT enterance and they attack me, 1 by 1, sometimes 2 come after me I kill them then other 2 come like in waves heheh for TBC warlock u had to make 10man raid to kill it heheh

and there was some Iranian guild i cant remember name, they all had warglaives :D warrs, rogues all :D

and Masterloot was bugged, u just leave raid, loot boss and take whatever u want hahah ooo damn it was forbidden to use ML :D

    .. what's your story?
    20 mins reading :l

    me story? is simple ,

    lets start -

I Was playing "mu online" but the server died (bcs of stupid people going to play servers x999999 drop rate x100 and everything in shop"
Theni decidied to come play in molten-wow wotlk as rogue frist 5 mouths i was playing in ragnaros achievements hunter, then i transffered to lodearon sibce in good guilds are requiered full hc gear + lod achie that was an insane thing.
    and that its.
    ;)

  8. Eh, I could show you my screenshots with a Hunter with 365 days played, but you'll probably say I photoshopped it. So instead I'll just tell my story. Just one warning - it is very long and it will probably sound made up or too "Korean".

I started WoW back when 1.9 was live. That's approximately 10 years ago. First I created many, many different characters, having difficulty choosing the right class for me. Hunter seemed charming, yet extremely boring and unrealistic. Paladin was by far the most boring class of everything I tried. Mage was OK, but having to eat & drink after every 2nd mob really put me off. Warlock, Shaman and Priest didn't really draw me. I also tried Warrior and Rogue, and I kind of liked them until one night after a server crash my Rogue got deleted (yes, such things happened back in the days).

I got mad. Mainly because I played together with another girl, which I met in-game. It was all "virtual reality" and stuff. I was buying her dresses from the Undercity robe vendor (the one selling extremely overpriced gowns), packing them in ribbon paper together with sweets I had baked (X-mas cookies).

So in my madness I rolled another Hunter. A Tauren Hunter. And I named him Torro. To this date he still remains the silliest character I've ever created. Anyway, I started playing him out of zeal and anger and I got to 10lvl in "just one night", which was a feat for me back at the time. Naturally, I chose Marksmanship because I thought that's what all Hunters should be - marksmen. The problem was I had no idea what "kiting" was, so my pulls consisted of laying a Flame Trap, casting an Aimed Shot, then spamming Arcane Shot & Serpent Sting as quickly as I could before the mob could reach me, then just attacking the mob in melee with Raptor Strike and Mongoose Bite together with my pet. I was more or less sure that Hunters were a half-melee class. Why else give them Survival and talents improving melee abilities? There was no one to teach me either - the server I played on had around 50 members. We all knew each others by names and interfactional communication was also allowed, but we never really played together and I played mostly solo.

I reached around 55-58lvl with the above method before TBC got released. Yes, it took me years. I never reached vanilla endgame. People with whom I had leveled were already T2/3, they were boosting me through dungeons, helping me with elites and others, but I just didn't want to level. I wanted to journey. And so I did. I went all around the continents, even in zones way above my level, dying from mobs, elites & guards only because I wanted to see those places. And they were amazing!

When TBC arrived I began suspecting that Hunters aren't really supposed to fight in melee as much as mine did. I changed to Survival and by using Counterattack I started learning how to kite, even though I didn't know it was called that way. However, my leveling mentality didn't change. Torro never saw TBC endgame either, and my leveling buddies were again boosting me through dungeons and elite chains with their already-T4/T5 geared chars.

My passion for leveling, the time I was dedicating to the game and my vast knowledge for quests and zones slowly made me "popular" at the game club where I was spending most of my time and pocket money. A lot of kids would sit around me and watch me play because of my adventurous playstyle. Soon an adult guy noticed me and made me an offer - powerlevel his younger son's Warrior and then honor-farm. He would pay for the time played and would also pay me 10 levs (1 euro = 1.95 lev) a day for my services, which was A LOT for me (I had a total of 25 levs / week, 1/3 of which were travelling expenses). I accepted, of course. My mother never liked WoW (she still doesn't), but when she saw I was making money through the game she let it pass. This was also the time when I started playing with other people and I actually learned how to play. Before then I had only played and leveled solo. End-TBC I was a PvP-god with Arms Warrior, people on my realm knew me and would cheer at me when I joined a BG with them. In the little time I had to play for myself I started exploring the different private servers. I tried more than 50 different private servers at TBC. It was then when I also picked the Rogue class. The classic no-brainer Hemorrhage spam...

At the start of WotLK I shared a retail account with a friend of mine. I still remember how I spent an hour during my Computer Science classes thinking about the DK I would create. I ended up with Sulthraz, the troll Blood DK. Thematically related to the troll blood-drinkers and to the epic Sul'Thraze, my first job when I created him and left the DK zone was to farm ZF until I got the sword. Sulthraz was love, Sulthraz was life for me, and I just loved playing him and lived with him. I still remember doing Obsidian Sanctum as tank; the fear that struck me when my guild wanted me to MT Patchwerk25 for the first time, and the joy and relief when that fatass died. With Sulthraze I geared up and raided for the first time in my life.

Until one day around 3.1 patch (Ulduar) our shared account got hacked. My friend called me to let me know, I started worrying, scanned my PC and found a keylogger trojan. We never managed to recover the account. I stopped playing retail and also WoW, and focused on my high school graduation.

I picked up WoW again some time after graduation and I even picked my favorite classes - Warrior and Rogue, which I had long neglected, but the thrill was gone. From that point my story continues like that for most people reading this text - I came to Molten at 2010 when there was only one realm - Neltharion, started playing here with my brother, cleared all content, moved to Cata, cleared all content, now moving to MoP. Torro, the hunter with 365 days played, is lost now, the server on which I created & played him - long time closed.

Come to think of it, I cannot even show you the screenshot of Torro I mentioned at the start because the PC on which I played has had its HDD fully formatted many times since then. My good ol' 32MB VGA, 900 MHz CPU, 256 SD RAM PC, which can't even support facebook nowadays.

A disappointing end of this story, I know. As most of my stories.

  9. I love this

I enjoyed read bought of the story's nostalgia got to me :D i would love to share mine as well

Since i did play only on private servers so far and mostly i didn't had my own internet at the time i did play in internet cafe at the time so i have no SS as well but i started on Vanilla server it was customized to the point where the weapons had over 34k dmg and i don't know how i got the info that druids had spell for 225% weapon dmg i don't know but i wanted to have a druid with this weapon and back then druids didn't had energy or rage they had mana so you could spam spells all day i was abut 12y old back then it was so fun for me i wasn't so much noob i picked up games really fast but as usual didn't know much of English no i do know it now :D i didn't play so much on that server abut i think it was abut 3-4 months .

Then i moved on to another private server called Dark Portal it was TBC one and the fun part abut that it didn't had any custom items but you would get 3 talent points per level so in the end of 70 you would have all talents with much more to spear i had paladin back then i had every spec but i didn't play retri the healing was so broken and the dmg i remember they had 5 min spell that would make you sacrfice your life to make some person have bubble but they couldn't act to move it was so fun to use it in BG when your abut to die.

Next thing i know i moved to a new house where i was 14 i think and i did meat a lot of IRl people that where going in the internet cafe as i did it was 3-4 us but they where much more experience then i was in WoW i would just sit there and watch them play for hours , watching them raid Black Temple was so fun for me , then i decided to come play with them , The server was called Toxic it was like molten is today popular a lot of people playing had vote system like molted does my toon was encha shaman for reason i mad it it was the mace that droped from trash it was exciting for me to have it i didn't know any better i played on that server for few months then i got merged with some other server and i stopped after that , Then new people keep coming to this internet cafe we all became good friends we all also played DotA 1 over lan sometimes 5v5 we came early as 6 AM waiting for computer to sit and the place was opening in 7 AM now looks funny but it was so normal for US we would talk what we would play that 1h

Latter we moved on to WoTLK servers i can't remember the time for that but the server wasn't so much popular but it had good community 10 of us would make a raid i had warlock that was my first time playing with warlock they looked really fun i always liked dark side sort to say the control they had over other players was what i always wanted then i heard abut cataclysm coming out here on molten and out of 10 of us only 4 would play here on cata now they stopped and only i play here meeting new people found out that some live in my own hometown...

And like others story this is where my story keeps going here on molten i love you guys , well most of you not the hatters :D

  10. I still remember doing Obsidian Sanctum as tank; the fear that struck me when my guild wanted me to MT Patchwerk25 for the first time, and the joy and relief when that fatass died.

Torro, the hunter with 365 days played, is lost now, the server on which I created & played him - long time closed.

A disappointing end of this story, I know. As most of my stories.
Brother tanker, I know what you have been through. I have tanked Ragnaros with 403pvp shoulder and 359ilvl shield, and madness with 359 shield, still had enough avoidance and stats, but yet again, guild, raid, people trust in you to do your job as tank... tactics can be learned but u as tank need to know them before u even tried them. Now when I think, tanking is like at least 3x more stressful than being DPS... if u die as DPS, maybe nothing happen, but if u die as tank, with your own fault, 9-24 more people will die and u wasted their time, their effort...

Too bad for Torro but sooner we all realize, that it will happen sooner or later, to all of our chars, we will survive it easier when it happens... one thing is for sure, one day in future we will have only memories about our gaming.

We all have endings like that when it comes to gaming, ur not the only one.

This thread is full of nostalgia, makes me miss pre-cata soooo much, I'm still not used to my surroundings in the new setup yet. Ugh I still remember getting my first Vanilla copy, first guild, dungeon runs, forging the swords from Zul'farak like it was a huge deal, the days when people had to buy their skills and think about their talents. Good times, I even remember during tbc protection pallys being near invincible with a certain shield block/return damage build could tank tons of mobs at once. Sigh I miss it all even the war over tarren
    Mill.

Edit: Excuse my grammar it's late for me and I'm on my phone so pretty lazy.
