Eww, people actually use the shovelware mess that is BitComet?
If you really want just as much closed source windows only licenced adware, sure go for it.
But know that Bitcomet isn't on any decent trackers' whitelists, it doesn't support uTP, heck it's never been a client worth using. I'd go far as to say it's even less trustworthy than µTorrent.
The problem with people using µTorrent 2.2.1 is that the software is old, outdated and possibly insecure. There's missing features that are now considered musts for some people, such as searching/filtering within your torrents, and the hassle of doing sequential downloads (first->last segment priority). A 4 year old build is very likely to have security vulnerabilities and I wouldn't wish for remote users to execute malicious code on my computer which has happened before on prior builds. One day you will have to to move to another torrent client.
This. Bitcomet is also confirmed to be sending private information about users to the devs.
It's been said a million times but I'll say it again. If you want a decent client, you either go qBittorent, Deluge or Halite.
I use Torch and it works good for me as my torrent downloader. It has a web browser but I use Firefox instead.
Will uninstall now :c all that effort to get +25 ltseeds
Im using an older version anyways. And yes BitTorrent who actually own uTorrent replied with:
"We have reviewed the issue closely and can confirm there is no silent install happening. We are continuing to look at the issue. But this is most likely these users accepted the offer during install"
![]()
they added that AFTER it silently installed itself onto people computers, then telling everyone that it doesn't happen. Just go Deluge or tixati or anything else recommended in this thread and drop the uTorrent garbage.
I suspected something like this was going to happen, I reverted to μTorrent 2.2.1 as soon as I started seeing all those ads and spikes in RAM usage (I'm not kidding, there was one time when μTorrent was using well over 800 MB of RAM).
800 ram wtf .. games don't even use that much resources.
Wait what? This is shocking for me.
Isn't bitcoin the currency that is used in the Dark Web? and how does that even operate? like what does the the program running in the background actually do for uTorrent?
They pay utorrent for including it in the installer, while it appears the miner itself gives money to charities.
Anyway, if anyone have problem when uninstalling utorrent, this article would be a helper.

uTorrent addressed the issue months ago, there is no need to revive the thread nor to uninstall it.
