1. Do GM's ever provide proper assistance?

I was doing quests for the Sons of Hodir and there's this one http://www.wowhead.com/quest=13001/raising-hodirs-spear where I have to fetch 3 pieces of Stoic Mammoth Hide. Sounds simple enough, right? Well not really. The valley where the mammoths can be found progressed and is in a different phase now, because I had access to and completed a quest that I shouldn't have been able to just yet. I opened a ticket and I was told that I should just come to the bugtracker and report it.

I wrote back in another ticket that the quest works fine, and explained my problem in further detail. I requested that he/she gives me the pieces of mammoth hide as there was no way for me to collect them whether the questchain is fixed or not. So then I get a private chat request and I was told in a really condescending manner that they will not provide any assistance to me whatsoever.

It is really upsetting because guildies told me that the GM's are really helpful, yet any time I asked for some sort of help (like spawning Thassarian) I was told that it is a known issue and I should just go to bugtracker.

Gms do not do that kind of stuff.

  3. Gms do not do that kind of stuff.
So what do they actually do?
I know for fact that they can spawn NPC's and mobs. Sylvanas doesn't (or didn't used to at least) stand at her usual spot and so when Alliance players were raiding Horde cities, GM's assistance would always be needed to make her appear in Undercity.

I just don't see how my problem was any different to that.

They are not allowed to give you items and they only help with quests if those are important quests that are required and are not working properly or have bugged for you (like class quests or fos/pos/hor quest chain). Undercity boss is also a long known issue and seems to be an exception. Other than that they won't help you with bugged quests and stuff like that. Support tickets in game are mostly for general questions, reporting players who break rules and serious bugs that don't let you use the character properly or something similar.

So to sum up, I can just wipe my butt with this quest, because there is absolutely no way I can complete it now, and I will never ever get any assistance.

Edit: For clarification, I didn't come here to complain. I was legitimately curious as to what the purpose of GM's are, as I thought my problem was easily within the boundaries of their responsibilities, but it turns out it is not. Thread can be closed, I guess.

  6. All quests will be eventually fixed. This has been Warmane's policy since its foundation. Using GM powers to complete quests is counter-productive and the only exceptions are the ones anyone0 explained above.

Which is awesome, and which is why I am looking forward to the release of Lordaeron. However, I can't stress enough that I feel my problem is not a broken quest, but a phasing error, hence it is unique and it's not a matter of fixing the questline. IF and when Warmane announces that all quests work in Storm Peaks and it still won't resolve my issue, can I still not count on GM assistance for this quest? I am in no shape or form trying to gain advantage of a GM's power, I just want to inch closer to Loremaster and make some gold.

I'm sorry if I am sounding like a whiny brat at this point, that is not my intention.

your issue is essentially a broken quest, since you were able to do a quest before you were suppose to be able to, which messed with your phase.

Indeed. Imagine that the intended way is that Quest A unlocks Quest B, and Quest B unlocks a new phase. However I could do Quest B before Quest A and now the new phase make it impossible to complete Quest A. If I could just somehow undo Quest B that would be great, but I doubt that is possible. Both individual quests work just fine, it's the way they are linked to each other that is broken.
