1. Vanilla/TBC servers

So I've been wondering for awhile now what the real top reasons there aren't any Vanilla or TBC servers from the warmane team? All the other kids running vanilla/tbc servers from their homee are just pure PvP, buggy as hell, and dead or dying. It just seems like so many people get so overwhelmingly vocal and touchy feely about the nostalgia from Vanilla and TBC (arguably the best content from the whole WoW franchise), yet there isn't anyone around with the existing community and back end experience such as the warmane team to deliver the goods. We got the people that want it, we got the people that have the skills that can deliver it, we have the money, that's the 3 essential things to have a successful gaming community, and we have them all, right here, so what exactly are we waiting for to happen?

  2. First, No point in going backwards.

Second, There wont be so much of nostalgia when they (re)discover the various truths of vanilla and TBC.

  3. Pretty much what Anorien said. We don't need another expansion to work on, and while those expansions may be popular to some extent, it's not something we desire to work on. There are other servers that have done TBC and Vanilla fairly well.

There is this one server coming and there's some serious hype behind it. If you really want to play on a TBC server you could just wait for that. However I don't think there's a more "enjoyable" server than warmane atm. Even tho they might have a better core and less bugs, warmane still has that special something....

You say it as if it's work instead of a hobby, haha ;) I get what you mean by it, though that point begs the question of why keep the older WotLK, or the bastard redhead step-child that is Cataclysm around, or even having any servers in the first place?
It's been about 5 years since I last looked for a vanilla or TBC server anyways.

its partly because vanilla/tbc were no were near as "good" as ppl claimed, TBC was a great expansion, but most of its acclaim comes from the fact it was the first and it changed so much at that time. But people talk about there first WoW expansion all the time the same way. There are ppl who claim Catacylsm was the greatest and everything after sucked. (and Mop as well) its just a matter of opinion. (alot of the skill required in vanilla/tbc raiding is another one of those myths. the games easier now mostly because people know how the raiding mechanic's work. sure they made some aspects easier. but the basics of Dpsing and following the plan have always been the same. it was only so hard in the early days because ppl were really bad at playing the game then)

and i think the main reason is because the Dev's dont really need to do another expansion, specially one's who may or may not bring in alot of people (theres ar eason vanilla or tbc realms die out so easily but wrath or higher do not.)

I say work because, despite it being a "hobby", we don't need to overload ourselves with more work than what we already have, which is more than plenty.

Also, removing expansions that people regularly play on and enjoy is not the same as adding new expansions that nobody has invested in here on Warmane. That's not a fair comparison to make at all.

  8. There's also the argument that WotLK is kept around despite it's age simply because people want it enough to warrant the attention. The WotLK server is still decently populated even on 'off' hours, and maintains a sizable population. It's also widely considered to be the best expansion.

    'coz wrath is going forward

I believe she meant going backwards from what they already have.

  12. I like Classic and TBC because I started playing with it. Classic on Blizzard, and TBC when private servers appeared. Back then however, emulated server experience wasn't as good as today.

So I'll happily play Wotlk as a compromise. I wont bother with Cata+ however, because it just changes most of the world I learned to enjoy.

    Just my two cents.

Pet Battles are largely a MoP feature. Since we are going forward, we are only going to be working on WoD and Legion from this point forward, and we will not be revisiting Pet Battles since the are primarily old content -- we do not want to go backwards.
