My first went to update from 5.4.2 to 5.4.8 using the method suggested from Warmane. Download and method to move .exe file seemed to work fine. He was able to log in but when he loaded any character he received a critical error and closed the game. Eventually he ended up deleting the whole game and tried downloading the whole client over again. Half a day of torrenting later it completed and only divxdecoder.dll(404kb) was there.
Any ideas ladies and gents? Any help is much appreciated!

what kind of Error?
anyway you can go here: https://www.warmane.com/download and select "Mist of Pandaria minimal" it is aroudn 16 MB, so it will take 1 min to download it.
It is an installer that let you play and download the rest of the game at the same time.
