I have to admit, with all due respect, that I am alarmed by the fascist trends here at warmane. I will only focus on this issue, in this post however:
Before moltdown all the realms had their own identities, with people playing them for different reasons. This made a lot of sense, as those who craved 1x were on Lord, those that wanted a little higher xp (and more pvp) went to DW, with the rest heading to RAG for its super-high rates and pve focus.
After moltdown the realms identities went out the window, which was a mistake from day one IMO. Not bringing back the realms JUST as they were was difficult at the time though, and I remember the FLOOD of tears that 1x was now gone (which had barely ANY population left mind you - and the most common 1x topic was how to get more ppl playing there). I also remember some partial reasons for the population-fall being transfers and some other things besides the server itself, but still there it was. Thus with moltdown, DW & RAG got changed to being mirror-servers so that the population wouldn't fracture further from the catastrophe. Understandable, but I think the identity of the realms should have been restored shortly after it became clear that many stayed with the project due project loyalty, myself included.
Well, fast-forward to now. You re-introduced the 1x server, BUT with tons of custom changes that many didn't want. It was FORCED on the population. Unsurprisingly, the sheeple trendies bowed & caved in anyway, making Lord very popular regardless. Grats on that gamble. Here's the thing: I doubt many people who WANT to play on DW or RAG give a flying crap about changes made from original Lord, into this custom version you came up with. It doesn't affect them, because they are not playing on 1x. They are playing on the high-rate servers. That's a key thing to realize & keep in mind.
Here's the problem. You are now CHANGING DW & RAG into bastard versions of LORDAERON, and once again FORCING people who choose not to play on Lord, into accepting Lord 'features' anyway. You seem to think Lord is a 'better' realm / system / style / setup... etc, and thus the community of serfs should be lining up to praise the changeover of the new core. You apparently think ALL realms should be like Lord, just with different rates...
Error.
The people who like Lord's features... are playing there already. Regardless of what they think about the custom features, they decided that 1x was for them, or maybe no RDF was for them, or perhaps even the buffed non-blizzlike pve content was for them, it doesn't matter they went there. COOL. Good for them. People still playing on DW & RAG ARE NOT THOSE PEOPLE. Get it? People on DW & RAG want to play with features from... wait for it... DW & RAG. Not 1x... NOT missing RDF... without buffed pve... and WITH PVP TITLES, among other things that have existed on these servers long before the new Lordaeron concept came into the limelight. Once again I must stress that the custom features on Lordaeron ARE FINE. If nobody liked them, the server wouldn't be capping out at 12k per day. The features ARE liked by a lot of people. GREAT!... for THEM.
The problem arises in that: a lot of people don't choose to play there. They choose to play on the other servers, which SHOULD NOT BE just higher-rate versions of Lordaeron. The realms should retain their identities as high rate, normal pve, RDF, pvp titles, etc, etc. The people playing on the other servers DON'T LIKE Lordaeron for whatever reason(s), and THAT is why they are on the other realms in the first place. Please stop FORCING unwanted changes on the populations of the now second-class non-lordaeron servers. It's killing morale, and will lead to nothing positive in the long run. Again I want to say that I am not calling out anyone specifically, and I am not bashing on Lordaeron. I am trying to illustrate that NOT EVERYONE is playing on, or WANTS to play on a Lordaeron-type of server, with Lordaeron-type features (or in this case, lack of features).
In the end, this issue is not really about pvp titles. It's about the use of force, and how you are treating your community. I REALLY hope these issues get taken care of on the new ICECROWN server. Please don't become the "you think you want pvp titles, but you don't" guy in the world of private servers haha.
Thanks for reading, and GL with Icecrown.
The original lordareon did beat all of the other realms hands down in the community aspect. I myself don't even like populated realms(eg. original ragna or dw) because you don't get the same feel of a community like you do on a smaller realm. I liked the 1x rates also because they kept the "trash" players away.
