Yo,
so after joining Lordaeron I've decided to start a boomkin, am a hardcore PvPer but I also am a hardcore raider :P.
I managed to reach 2500 and 2600 rating in arena tournament for a few months (back in the days I think 4 years ago xD) but I was playing as a warrior and that's the only char I played in my whole life.
So after trying out boomkin and leveling it to 80, I found that they really lack almost everything :
-survivability (if you compare it to a shaman for instance who got grounding totem and eartbind and stoneclaw).
-cc and instant CCs, the only CCs a boomkin can cast are cyclone and root (both taking 1.5 sec time to cast thus making him vulnerable to silence and interrupts)
-damage (once you get your wrath interrupted, you are pretty much screwed).
So I was thinking, aren't they just extremly underpowered in this expansion ? is it really a good char for PvP ? I kinda took it like a challange to try and master the class and reach high ratings but seeing how things are turned out, this seems to be more of a dream more than anything else.
Anyway that was abit long, thanks for reading and please if you are a boomkin PvPer I'd love to hear you out on this cause am about to throw away this char after putting alot of hours into it.
I watched a few moonkins in 2v2 on arena tournament.
Moonkin + rog seems to be the best setup for that spec.
They all played their moonkin like a restokin. Constantly healing with x3 lifebloom and kiting and losing the enemy by runing around the pillar.
Then, in the right moment, they pop starfall and spamm wrath and try to kill the opponent in a quick burst.
I guess as moonkin u are supposed to heal a lot and play defensive until starfall is ready.

Yes. Their best comp in 2s (balance+rogue) is simply an inferior version of shadowpriest/rogue. The main reason boomkin sucks is their complete lack of defensive cds combined with having to lower their defenses even further to be able to heal.
If you see a moonkin in arena, simply tunnel them and they will do zero dps outside of starfall.
Then again both resto and balance seem pretty weak on Icecrown, compared to other realms. They might be better if resilience is working correctly.
Only worth it if you want to play resto occasionally too, otherwise I'd run with some RDPS that does better damage - like mage.
ugh... dont be fooled by "omg highest rdps class is mage boomkin useless OMG" nonsense.
boomkin has its uses if DBS worked properly thier knockback is essential to that fight. they also provide tons of raid utility like battle rezz, innervate, crit buff, haste buff, CC abilities (yes even hibernate is nice for RS) typhoon is used regularly in both RS and LK and you will find yourself needed in those end game bosses a lot because of that ability alone.
is the dps so so compared to other classes? yep
does that matter at all? nope
the utility you bring to a raid outweighs your dps.
Yes, basically especially in PVP, moonkins are honestly probably the worst thing you can play in arena. Both resto & feral can do very well in arena though, resto is easier than feral for sure to go high with, but if you're willing to put in the time to practice and learn, then feral is very strong & fun to play! Moonkins definitely aren't bad for BGs or duels though, and are very good in PvE also so I wouldn't give up just yet if you don't mind playing the other specs in arena!

I wouldn't say that they're the worst thing you can play in the arena. Esp if you've got a good partner. Balance is not as gimped in WOTLK as it was in BC and in Vanilla especially with good gear

Well being a good player and having a good partner will mean you can get quite high no matter what you play, but I do think boomkin is probably the worst spec to get high with, i can't think of anything worse. What do you think is worse than it in arena?

enh shaman and fire mage can be tough to play in arena without the proper gear but I haven't played them enough in WOTLK to really say :)
well, i`m 1.9 2s with mage on Arena Tournament (Blackrock), 2.1 3s and 2.6 sq (if u know what it is) atm , if u realy like it, play it dude, 1 thing i can say ,there is 3.3.5B and with dis patch u can typhoon ur enemies instantly so its like good interrupt effect and with dis typhoons moonkins are more playable in PvP, sry about bad english
that time on videos i was learning , but still maybe u will find something interesting maybe. just type Mememeld (ye its stupid) in Youtube search and u will find my chanel Savann X
