demistifying some Cata myths?

On-topic; I play shadow priest, feral druid and protection warrior and I just want to say that these classes are not bad at all, in fact they are really fun to play. However, in order to do good playing one of these you need to know and understand your class/spec, and you need to have it correctly setup with the right stat priorities/reforges and whatnot.

I see so many spriests and feral druids with completely wrong reforges and the rotation of a 12 year old. I also see protection warriors who has gear but has no idea what CTC cap is. Then you have that warrior who thinks he knows what CTC is and he is over capped like crazy, missing out on other important stats such as stamina.

I'm not gonna say that there are no bugs with these specs, but they are not bad. People just have no idea how to play them and work around certain stuff. This is a private server, remember that.

thing is, it's easy to go over or under cap with each new/better piece of gear you get so you actually need to re-reforge and possibly re-gem your gear after every item or 2 just to stay around that (was it 104.5%? I don't play war/pala :P) ctc

Warrior is op tank even bugged if u know how to play :)
I was main tank with my warrior in many raids on warmane also DS 25 hc realm first was warrior off tank
So guys its all about skill ... Skill>Gear ;)

What about fire mages? are they A-Ok? they pretty much nerfed ignite to oblivion just to stop the Alysrazor farming and insta shotting Bosses, instead of going "Blizzlike".

I can already see the replies saying "git good", and "Fire is fine there's nothing wrong with Ignite". I know my rotations I know how fire mages works and even played on retail while it was cata. (**** MoP).

Now I have to stick to a 1 button spec, because no matter how hard you try, fire dps will lack almost everytime.

They definitely broke fire mages and they are bad in pve now, however they are still pretty good in pvp because normally you dont have the gear nor time to get a big ignite in pvp. Fixing fire mages should be one of the highest priorities imo, arcane is so fkn boring.

what exactly is the problem then with Shadow Priests? why can some people do 70k while some BiS geared ones struggle to deal 30k?

It isn't like the tier 13 set "rotation" is something from the outter world

1. Prepot volcanic
2. Shadow Word: Pain
3. Mind Flay
4. Dark Archangel
5. Shadowfiend
6. x1 Mind Spike > Mind Blast > Mind Spike until Mind blast is off CD >
7. When Dark Archangel has 3 seconds left: Vampiric Touch > Devouring Plague > SW:P > Mind Blast (the idea is to time your Shadowfiend's last attack with Mind Blast for the 3 orbs)
8. Mind Flay, refresh dots before expiring, Mind Blast on CD.

And I struggle to keep 31k in the dummy. 404 shadow priest. pffffffff

Burst:
1. Mind Flay x2 - To stack Dark Evangelism
2. Archangel
3. Mind Blast
4. Fiend
5. Mind Spike x4 (maybe 5)- After the second Spike use your Trinket and Potion
6. Mind Blast - But you need to use your /cancelaura Mind Melt /cast Mind Blast Macro
7. Mind Spike x3
8. Mind Flay x1
9. Mind Blast

After that your normal rotation returns to:
10. Vampiric Touch
11. Shadow word: Pain
12. Devouring Plague
13. Mind Flay and Mind Blast filler and on CD.

Make sure you aren't using your Mind Flay ability but a macro for it:
/showtooltip Mind Flay
/cast [nochanneling] Mind Flay

So many spriests don't use this then wonder why their dps is derp.

Oh and one more tip, if your mana is usually good in fights, right after your Mind Blast cast finishes, hit Devouring Plague. They will both hit at the exact same time and be on the exact same GCD, so it's basically free damage.
