Short and sweet from Proterean:
The point marketplace changes are intentional and now are in line with the rest of the realms. Only Icecrown had major PvE gear on it's marketplace for points and that has been adjusted. (Other realms did not in fact have this kind of gear quality)
As you can see most of the changes done from the original rework is to encourage playing the game and obtaining items there, including legacy content release on newer expansions and et cetera.
We believe that these items have had a significant impact on the game and devalued some items, that used to have a higher level of importance such as Deathbringer's Will. We don't want them to lose that value and still remain important and heavily sought out items.

In another words, i play the game, got few items from VOA (talking about pve), drop rate low on items i need + number of players in raid + instance cd = few weeks, maybe months till i get one or two items. if i think about going icc, i cant! cause nobody wants me with no achievement and low gearscore.
So, bottom line, i cant get items from certain raids in a loooong time so i can go better one's no matter my playing hours.
Vote system can boost me with item or two since i'm already raiding for them ingame, and lets add to that the fact that i need like a month to collect 30 points so, yeah, nerfing the marketplace was a sit back for me and in some way useless to me...

And how exactly one item a month would speed your gear-up progress?
For a month you can get heroic ready while actually playing the game, you keep mentioning the GS wall in global, well there's a solution for that... it's called guild, so you should be looking for a guild instead of trying to gear-up with pug runs when they can wipe on the second boss and call it and there goes your weekly raid lock.
Gearing is pretty easy, farm gold to buy the ICC/ToC BoEs, farm rep and emblems to get the T9 set and trinkets.

It would do exactly what it is meant to do.. i have most of items from raids and instances, few from eots and eofs and hope to get some from vote points and get beneficials from set.. but.. since some items can't be obtained from emblems i must go raids. Raids as u said lock for at least 4 days, and as i mentioned before drop rate+number of members rolling for them = pretty low chance i can get item.
All this is necessary so i can go ICC ether way; NO guild will invite u to go ICC unless u have some proper equipment NO pug run will get mi invited with less than 5k gs.
And in the end, the point of my endless talk is TIME. I don't want to gear one char for months just to start going ICC. Little help from marketplace would just do the trick...but hey.. nevertheless, i'm talking here like mad hoping to get my point even when there is no changing back the marketplace the way it was...

There is no vote system though. It's a clicking system. You click at the website and get free gear. We get nothing back when you do that.

ouh.. i forgot to mention... i don't need store with items that are most likely worst than some standard, let's say fos/pos (normal and heroic) dungeons...
I hope u get my point now :D
P.S. old habit for "vote system" just referring to "website points" or whatever its called.. :)

Useless you say? What sort of answers would you like them to have provided instead? They're just stating their opinion just like you've stated yours. They disagree with you. The staff also disagrees with you. What exactly are you looking for in a response? Aside from "Sorry, you're right, we're going to revert the changes"? I mean, you're here trying to slap the "greed" card on the staff, like people have the tendency to do because they can't see the forest for the trees. So I think I'm being reasonable if I'm going to take the time to ask what you really want in response.

Lets take this for a different POV. Since they changed the marketplace. Raids are still asking you to be GODS. The lower lvl gear will barely get you a invite to a raid since they want 5.5k gs and above. They items we want are deep in ICC or RS. So where is the equitable trade off. Few will want to carry lower geared personnel. Most are so GS stuck it's stupid. Should of just left it be.

because the staff stated VP doesnt benefit them or the server in any way
with that in mind, dont be surprised when it's gutted entirely
