1. How is MoP

I used to play MoP when it was released but quitted. Now I'd like to come back but I haven't follow recent updates. Can some experienced player tell me what does exacly work? And I mainly look at: which raids are scripted? which bgs are scripted? which arenas are scripted? does challenge modes work? how are classes working? how are questing zones working? and generally is it as dead as Cata yet?

  2. Frostwolf is actually slowly rising back again, so the comparison with Neltharion is a bit unfair. The recent low-level content updates seem to have settled the players' desires (for now) and are keeping them occupied. Then again you have touch of death going through touch of karma, but that's another story.

    - PvP is working properly 95% of the time (ie class skills are scripted well, with some minor exceptions), half the server is playing arms war or bm hunt, and the atmosphere is generally chill, with the occasional raid on SW or Orgrimmar.
If you find the proper guild, you'll soon learn to overlook the nuisances, and as soon as you hit 90 and start doing battlegrounds, it will get easier.
    - The PvE scene is slightly lacking as an overall constant, you'd have to join a dedicated guild solely for raiding or doing rdf (a few examples would be Vanquishers or Stormborn). Most mid-tier instances in Pandaria (Mogu'shan Vaults, Gate of the Setting Sun, Jade Serpent Temple, Scarlet Monastery etc.) are up and working. Some SoO bosses are bugged to the point where the whole raid group gets wiped because of intergalactic damage. World bosses (Sha of Anger, Oondasta, Galleon etc.) are working as well.
    - Questing is in a slump, about 1/3 quests are bugged or partially bugged (but still impossible to turn in). Your best bet is to get heirlooms (min. 35% bonus), rush-level a pandaren (because of their passive, you get twice as much rested experience bonus) and work your way up from there.
    - Profession rates are (I suppose you already know) x3 atm, as well as gold rates. Archaeology seems to be x1 however.
    - The Auction House is a bit of a mess atm but it's okay as long as you don't mind being competitive. Since the prof rates got lowered, it's a lot easier to buyout lower-class materials or ingredients, so you can juggle around as much as you want.
    - Battlegrounds that are open - Kotmogu, Mines, Arathi, Gilneas, Warsong, EOTS, Twin Peaks.
    - Arenas (Ruins of Lordaeron, Nagrand, Tol'Viron, Tiger's Peak, Circle of Blood) are scripted and working as intended. They won't, however, win themselves.

Wrapping it all up, I'd say it's still worth returning, provided you're ready to lower your expectations for a moment...

  3. @MayfireD2L would you mind if o copy past this work of your's since there have been a lot of posts like this?

  4. Then again you have touch of death going through touch of karma, but that's another story.
You know https://mop.openwow.com/spell=122470 can absorb only damage equal to the (max) amount of health you have?
If https://mop.openwow.com/spell=115080 (or Any other spell) hits you for damage larger then (remaining) absorb amount, you will die.

  5. Overall it's starting to get better, even though lots of things are missing from the server. For example, I have a bug report open listing all the missing/unobtainable glyphs on the server with 42 upvotes and it has been unconfirmed for 6+ months so far.

Quests/NPCs are getting fixed daily on the bugtracker afaik. Hopefully development will be focused on MoP now that WotLK is almost done.

  6. PVP gearing up is a massive pita though as the proper conquest cap is disabled and you have to spend months (or who guessed, donate) just capping to play instead of being geared after just playing a lot due to no catchup conquest system.

  7. Yea thanks for answers. I have characters already with 522ilvls because as I said I played before. How are Challenge Modes? does Timeless Isle work properly (all rares/events).

  8. "PVP gearing up is a massive pita though as the proper conquest cap is disabled and you have to spend months (or who guessed, donate) just capping to play instead of being geared after just playing a lot due to no catchup conquest system."

Hi, I have trouble understanding what you are trying to say (huge run on sentence haha). Can you elaborate more on this please?

  9. "no catchup conquest system."
The "Catch up" mechanism was applied only for mid-seasons

The following text is copied from official blizzard blog
"Players who are starting their journey into PvP mid-season start significantly behind the gearing curve. While we want to avoid invalidating the effort of players who have competed for the whole season, we agree with the feedback we’ve received that the starting gap is too large, so a new Conquest Point catch-up cap will be implemented using the following formula:

(Current week of the season) * 1000 – (Conquest earned thus far this season)"

Since there wont be new gear on next warmane pvp seasons this system is totally useless.

Basicely, from 5.2 onwards blizzard was of the opinion that competing with people in full pvp gear while being in honour gear was not really doable, so they introduced a catchup system.

In MOP, as you probably know, you can earn up to 2200 conquest points per week (more with more rating) - so for a new character you need multiple months of capping weekly just to get full pridefull (at that point you can start to seriously do pvp). So to stop someone dinging 90 to be useless for months they introduced a catchup system - for every week that you didnt cap so far in the season you get a increase in your cap by 1000, which means that if you didnt play for 10 weeks you had a 11800 cap the week you started. This increased all the way through.

What this did was cut down the time needed for new players and alts to be competetive, a system which pretty much everyone liked (bar a few people who relied on gear to carry them), but it is to be noted that it cut down the time only in terms of weekly caps, the total amount of games won to get conquest stayed the same. The system allowed people to easily play alts, allowed new players to compete in reasonable times and all around was so successfull that it stayed about till pvp gear became obsolete in Legion.

On warmane this system isnt working, and to make it worse the gear doesnt change so half the server has 550 gear already which makes it even more impossible to actually do something without being geared, on retail at least, if you started late before the system was introduced, the gear changed every season, so if you started late you could easy catch up when the next season started, this doesnt exist here at all due to gear staying the same. Instead of dinging 90 and being able to do arenas to actually get the gear you need (after farming honour, or paying someone to carry you) you have to grind for about 3 months to get geared, instead of being able to do the whole thing in 1 week as it was intended.

This makes gearing very annoying, especially as so much on the server is broken that it doesnt really entertain you throughout without being able to properly pvp.

Due to this, if you are interested in pvping, id suggest to wait and not play this server till that is fixed.

    Fixed that for you.

  12. I still dont get why so many people play BM though, its the worst spec in 5.4.

Sometimes, we focus too much on the state of the game in retail and lose focus of what's really happening in warmane.

Like for example, how warriors here play the game as if its cataclysm.

  14. Hi, I'm downloading the game. I would like to know if it starts at level 90 or I must level up, I plan to play in MoP (Frostwolf). Is there a post with all this information?

    Thank you

    You must level up.

Exp, Gold, Reputation, and Profession rates are all x3.
